From what I heard you need Gem Shop items to make it far into Endless anyways so it'd be sorta pointless to add Endless w/o the shop.
No Gem Shop cause that is related to in-app purchases that the Steam version does NOT have.
But please let us stop with the gnome shop, that's such a groundless argument.
As if the majority of the customer base would care if you could reach much more waves with items you have to grind or buy for, the stages are endless anyway so you won't reach heaven even with the gnome shop.
But you can reach 65 waves without using any items on KR:Frontier's Temple of Evil:

Or at least 52 waves on one endless stage from Origins:

That's enough to offer the customer the whole experience which I would gladly take.
You could argue about making the items always available but with a fixed amount per stage/wave without the player grinding for it, saving it up, then wasting it and then again grinding items.
That's horrible from my perspective.
But I see that as a seperate issue.
The endless stages are great without it or any rebalance or modificiation of the mobile mechanics.
Just offer the endless levels like you do with normal levels and let players reach as far es they can get.
I'm also happy that there is no gnome shop and a grindy implementation but there is no sensible argument against endless levels.
1 Give players a balanced number of each gnome shop item(that number might even be one of each) at the start of an endless stage
2 Turn the gnome shop items into abilities with long cooldowns(needs some testing to determine cooldown length of course), which are only available in endless stages
And just to show what you would be aiming for in terms of having players experience all the content and not programming it for nothing, here are the wave numbers you need to beat in order to have fought every unique obstacle(i.e. you have seen every piece of content that the stage has to offer) in each individual endless stage so far:
Rage Valley(Kingdom Rush) - wave 42 - Forest Troll
Ruins of Nas'de(Frontiers) - wave 40 - triple Anubis mini-boss
Temple of Evil(Frontiers) - wave 46 - Gorillon
Valor's Rest(Origins) - wave 38 - Razorboar
Twilight Invasion(Origins) - wave 37 - Twilight Golem
If you're good, it's definitely possible to reach at least wave 50 on pretty much all of them without using any gnome shop items, so I don't even think you need the items to experience all the content.
Doable? Already done? As I said, I haven't used this shop thing, so I hope I'm not sounding silly. Thoughts?
Just like we already play the normal levels without the gnome shop and its items and that's also what I would simply want and prefer.
-----------
The gnome shop offers players to buy 6 different single use items for gems.
For example in KR:
Dynamite (50 Gems): deals 250 damage to enemies in an area of effect.
Frozotov (50 Gems): freezes enemies in an area of effect, rendering them helpless.
Chill Wand (250 Gems): freezes all enemies currently in play and prevents new ones from attacking.
etc.
You can get gems on mobile by killing enemies which sometimes drop gems, watch some advertisement or buy gem packages for 2,99$ up to 49,99$ for 1.500 gems or 40.000 respectively.
The player can use the items on every stage and challenge.
It's not tied to endless levels and is not needed for the experience.
Since they haven't yet tried to port over an Endless stage I can imagine that it'd be a lot of initial work to get them working and I can't really see them doing that now for Origins when they have skipped over them in the previous two entries... /shrug
That's debatable ;)
The question is, would you enjoy it without the shop? Should it have the shop but gems only available by grinding? IAPs?
We're reading and your opinions are very valuable to us.
Thank you!
That way you are spending less effort, keeping the current model and most people would be already happy that way.
