How do I do different grinds and maintain speed!

Hey all,

Just got the game yesterday and really loving it but struggling to get into different grinds and also maintain speed. So far I can tire ride on the rails/ benches and double peg it buts thats it and on quarters i can get enough speed to air it decently high ( bunny hopping at the coping and press forwards with the left stick) but struggle to maintain it when trying to then air another quarter with my speed dying.

move the right thumbstick up for toothpick, down for icepick, bottom corners for feeble and upper corners for smith.
