Coconut Palm Trees self-destruct their stumps upon loading into game

I first noticed this on my Survival King of the Jungle Diff. I chose the abandoned tribal village at 45W 25S and there are several trees there, many of which are coconut palm trees. At first, I found some fiber which confused me as I didn't chop or harvest anything that might've produced them, until I noticed the area by the river missing some coconut palm stumps. I 100% didn't even hit a stump when chopping.

I tried sleeping through, but there was no regrowth at all from the palm trees nor the reappearance of the stumps. In an experiment, I chopped down several trees nearby, palm trees and normal trees, making sure each of the stumps are unharmed. I slept a few nights away and they are still there.

I reloaded the save and boom.

All the coconut palm stumps are gone, leaving some fiber at its wake and completely destroying the stump. The normal trees are unaffected by me loading back into the game. I know stumps are necessary for tree regrowth. Does this mean coconut palms are a limited resource? Or is this a bug?

I tried this with an entirely fresh save too and the problem persists.
