Game stuck on a grey screen when booting up
Topic:
[V1.0.4] Whenever I start up the game, either through opening steam first or just clicking the shortcut on my desktop, I get a grey screen and the loading cursor.

Description:
Whenever I start up the game, either through opening steam first or just clicking the shortcut on my desktop, I get a grey screen and the loading cursor. I don't get to see the Creepy Jar logo or anything else, just a grey screen after Steam launches the game. The only way I can close it and try again is by restarting my laptop. Simply closing the game or have task manager close it doesn't work. The game just keeps 'running'. Also when I try to minimise the game, the grey screen doesn't disappear (luckily I have two screens so I still have some control). I have been able to start up the game about three times where the grey screen only took a second or didn't appear at all but roughly 3 grey screens appear for 1 normal start up.


Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start up the game through Steam or the shortcut.
2. Wait...
3. Wait...
4. Wait...
5. Wait...
6. Restart your laptop/pc.
7. Start up the game through Steam or the shortcut. And beg your Green Hell to boot up.
8. Finally be able to play.

Reproduce rate:
Roughly 8 times now when playing 3 sessions

What should have happened:
I should have been able to play Green Hell like I usually do

OS: Windows 10 Home (64)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HK CPU @2.90GHz 2.90GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
RAM: 16 GB

Note:
(Please fix it so I'm able to play the game again)

Hi CreepyJar!

In 1920x1080 @ 120Hz. It's in V1.0.4 btw (build 6322). When it does boot up, everything works fine.

I have the same problem and I can't do anything I need to restart the PC.
Nothing can be clicked on even Steam can't

I got that problem too, my solution was to open the game as window 8 compatibility and istantly got fixed on that time and forever after cause it save like that. I hope that help you guys.

I start playing and then it will flash to a dark grey screen or a chartreuse screen. I can't even exit. I have to turn the whole PC off then back on. This has happened 3 x today. Please fix this!

Hey guys! As @Akuro suggested, you may try to run the game with compatibility mode to Windows 8, or possibly try to run the game as an administrator.
However, if difficulties still persist, please reach out to us at: support@creepyjar.com, so we can investigate this situation further and possibly help you resolve it.

Turns out enabling windows 8 compatibility did indeed fix the issue!

I have the spinning circle about 50% of the time I try to start the game and the company logo never appears. I am forced to ALT CTR DEL and then LOGOFF windows account and then LOG back in.

Windows 11 and always the most up to date version. Video card drivers always latest (4060 and had same problem with my previous 2070 same machine).

Verified the file integrity did nothing.

Is it your copy protection causing issues?
