Gold Bag
I was fully jungle aware and finally dropped the bag of gold. But now I see there is an achievement for it. So I went back to an early base where I think I dropped it. But I don't see it. Does it despawn? Or should I keep looking? Or would I find it again at the mine?

You won't find it again and at least in my game it doesn't despawn.

Yes sorry to say you just have to hang onto it in your bag. It wont store in any chest either.
If you can go back a few saves to where you first go to the gold mine down the lift should be able to get it again when playing Story.

Aren't there TWO bags? If you left one untouched it may still be in the mine somewhere. Not sure...

Well, now I'm curious, time to do the story mode again (and this time I'll turn the graphics to the lowest setting so the game won't crash after the bad ending)

Actually didn't take that much time to do the whole story again now that I know what to do. I got Green Hell, the ball, the bag and second ending in two evenings. I had to double check that I had it on Green Hell since it didn't seem any harder.

I just inspected the mine and found just one bag. Looks like I was wrong. Oh well.
