Newbie question: how to not hold a weapon

Just bought the game a hour ago. This might be dumb but I have to ask: can I put away the weapon I'm holding? Since the game offers an impressively realistic backpack, I think it'd be reasonable that I'm allowed to put all my 4 weapons in those 4 weapon slots without holding them.

There is blueprint found at Waraha Village and it's Weapon Rack that you can put weapons/tools on it.

Just read the wiki page of Weapon Rack. No, it's not what I need. I'm just asking if there's a hotkey or a secret input technique that allows me to put the weapon that I'm holding in my hand back into the weapon slot on the side of my backpack, like putting a sword back into its sheath in other games.

I don't think there is, actually look like u need 1 empty slot and I know what you mean for stealthing the Knife. I think should add 1 more button for stealthing the Knife.

1 hotkey- hands (empty)
2 hotkey- weapons
3 hotkey- Tools
4 hotkey- bows
stealth- Knives (no Keybind)

Yeah, leaving one slot empty is exactly what I did, it's a huge waste though. They should really add one more hotkey or even a "Fist" slot for this.

Personally, I'm not willing to give up a slot just so I can have my hands empty. However, I agree that being able to put away my weapon so it's not visible in my hand would be nice.

Well, if you'd consider using mods, I had created ModQuickEquip using modapi, a mod for Green Hell that adds a quick equip slot for the 5th weapon - slot for a blade or knife - attached to the related backpack pocket.
