I Want More for and from This Game. And Where Are The Mods?
I've put off from investing time in the game in the hopes that they would've added more to the roster of tools and weapons, but that's not the case. Their updates have went in a different direction to my disappointment. It's a bit sad to see what the devs decided would be their focus with the additions to what is a harsher survival game. Nexus Mods has about 29 mods from the last time I checked, and I was hoping there were more elsewhere. Are there more mods out there? The mods that are on Nexus don't add anything new to the game, 90% of them were increases to carry capacity.

Most of what I remember of the updates stray from the "realistic"/brutal theme of the game. Now that's not to say that base upgrades don't make sense, but decor really doesn't. This isn't The Forest but they went with that type of vibe with the fortifications, I mean sure why not? If I could I'd want a strong base to defend me instead of just hiding away. But then... adding decorations? Yeah let me just pretty up my base that I built to withstand attacks from the natives that want me dead, that's what I should really focus some time on. So instead of adding additional tools and weapons a modern person in that situation would try to make, they instead added... decorations. The fact they didn't even add the ability to use a rock as a melee weapon when making the game should've been telling, but I had hope. Then pets... they added pets. So from a survival game that has you focusing on being careful of every step you take and your macros, they decided to then add pets. Look at Rust. It took them this long but even they eventually added shields to their game, and that's saying something for the direction that game was going.

I'm hating a little too much for something that seems so little, but it's the thought that they spent their time adding things that feel more like Minecraft, rather than things that feel natural to the flow of the game. Vaces instead of maces/clubs. Wall paper instead of shields. In the games scenario instead of using my leisure time to decorate, I would spend that time seeing what I can do/make to have a better chance at survival. Is that unreasonable to do, if not then why wasn't it added? Seems only logical.

You can throw rocks, just sayin'. I've killed animals with them. :steamhappy::steammocking:

I think it's because the game has too many annoying little issues, and not enough engaging content from the devs. They just mostly gave up maybe because of the limitation of the engine / codes.

This game is good overall, but ya it could always be better/improved in certain ways.

There are a few alright mods at nexusmods DOT com.. but nothing great.

I enjoyed the single player story, it's good and well done.
It's default difficulty is hard as HELL!
Multiplayer is fun with friends too!

Makes me wonder how they'll manage with properly finishing their new game "StarRupture".. Looks neat, but, ehhhh we'll see how that one turns out lol, and holds up over time.

You seem very upset about the decorations. Which they added because it was the final free update, as a sort of fun little send off.

I can sort of see your point about the shields and maces, though I think this game tries to lead you more into an 'avoid danger' mode, instead of a 'lets juggernaut' mode.

As to the pets, it adds gameplay elements to a settler playthrough. You don't have to use pets if you want to play a nomadic survival playthrough, but if you want to settle in a single place and build an extensive base, it's nice to be able to add some livestock.

Now whether you like these elements is obviously a matter of personal preference, I just think it's nice that they added a broad array of mechanics to give players the freedom to choose what to play. Whether you want to keep moving through the jungle and survive on what you find, or whether you want to settle in a nice spot and build a self sustaining farm in the middle of the jungle, or build a fortress to fend off those pesky zombie natives. It's all possible.
And once you've completed the building, it's nice to be able to add some finishing touches like furniture (which they added together with the decorations), curtains, some paintings or a human skull. Instead of just a single bed and fireplace.
