Decorations in survival game
I always thought this was a real hardcore survival game. All others like The Forest, etc., were casual. It makes zero sense to make decoration inside a jungle where your soul purpose is surviving, hunting and exploring. I think it is meant for long-term players, streamers and multi players.

The majority of midgame is extremely easy. You keep check of all 4 basic needs, check for parasites. But then things starts to become repetitive. You hear roaring, and you ready your spear, and throw it, and one shot will kill that jaguar. Humans feel more of a threat than an actual wild cat which doesn't make sense.

I think devs should focus more on some survival ailments. Like having a scratch shouldn't always kill you. Body should be able to fight parasites more. A wild cat should have different movement. Cats have reflexes of 50ms which can be use to dodge snakes as well. The hardcore aspect of this game can be pushed just a little while still being fun.

Well that was the last DLC. So I think other than maybe bug fixes they are done. The game is what it is.

People have wanted to turn this game into a Barbie Dreamhouse simulator for a while now. I have never understood it. The torches have been asked for a long time so it's good to see those. The quivers for the arrows are ok but we already had shelves to store them and before that the chests. I am one of the few I think that was happy enough with the game as it was. I also do like the armor holders though.

Same for me. I don't understand all those decoration and other stuff. You can easily finish 1st game without building anything I think, just surviving from the ground. But hey, I bought only 1st game, even without SoA and it was totally worth it. Everything I got on top of it was free. I can't say I liked all of that other stuff, but since it was for free, I don't really care.

I don't go in for large bases anymore, & will likely never utilize most of the decorating options. But I do like the idea of being able to engage in creative pursuits, such as painting or weaving, to while away the long rainy season evenings, as this is something I would likely do IRL. Such things make the game more immersive for me, not less, but I suppose that's a function of playstyle, as well as a reflection of the individual.

ive never understood people complaining about optional additions in games like this. If you think its dumb, just don't use it. No one is forcing you. It literally doesn't affect your playstyle at all if you just ignore them.

@Powerferret, while I see your point, I think it's a matter of some folks preferring that the time spent developing one thing or another had been spent on other things.

The problem is everyone wants to complain. DEVs find out real quick you can't please everyone. So they do what they have a vision of for the game. TBH I think a lot of people request this. A lot of people also complained about update #20. So someone is gonna be mad no matter what they do. People need to get over it. It is just a dang game.

No argument from me, Phoenix Cat, you're preaching to the choir. ^^

Yeah, I mean you are trying to escape from jungle, why would anybody wanna settle down, make bases and all. Seems to break immersion and makes game look easier for new players.
man im just tryna have fun

1. It's just for fun, totally optional, you can spend the entire game ignoring it

2. It was meant to be fun because this is the final update they're ever pushing out, the survival aspects are Done, and have been done for a while, this was just a goodbye gift/bonus from the devs.

I'm sorry I can't hear you over the sound of me crafting every single decoration, rearranging my tree house and painting every wall and enjoying every moment. If you don't like It, it's fine. Let people enjoy things.
You're right about predators being easy to fight, though.

Its just that, it kills immersion.

If you're roleplaying trying to escape, I agree, settling down is the last thing you'd want to do. For myself, I usually roleplay that I have no way out (of wherever I am, depending on the game ^^). I also sometimes incorporate other made up elements to make playing more interesting.

For me, it's about working within the framework of what a game offers to develop ways of playing it that I enjoy. And if certain elements or mechanics break immersion for me, I just ignore them. ^^
