Lost jaguar corpse (water issue)

Is there any way to move/drag a Jaguar which dies and then falls into deep water? I see a hand icon when I swim to it but can't do anything to it.

It would make sense if we could drag or push it back to the shore, since things are far lighter in water. I just want to be able to harvest the beast.

Is there something I'm missing?
