Any ways to generate insects?

Waiting for fruits and meat to go bad is way too long, and I don't really want to use additional tools for my first story playthrough. So is there any suggestions? I need to feed my pets

It says in the new notes to use compost maker. Is that what your referring to when saying waiting for food to go bad??

Well you can mass produce spoiled fruit/meat by leaving it to rot on the shelf so you don't have to carry it around.

Fruit is easy to obtain in huge quantities, especially with farming, you can even dedicate plants just for fruit that should spoil, Human meat is easy to come by (it often literally comes to you) and is not exactly best food source due to side effects, so it's best use is often to leave it rot. Same goes for various dead animals (like parrots) you can find, their meat is not exactly that great as it's not very nutritional, especially if you have something better to eat, and letting it spoil in huge quantities can be quite easy. That way you won't have to wait, as it will simply happen and you will be always stocked.

Aside from that you can hunt scorpions or spiders, which all count as insects and are easy to find in various caves or around certain places. This is however more dangerous and not as effective.

Make Composter and feed it with human meat or any extra type of food you have a tons of, once it finish to compost you can get the fertilizer from it and harvest it for quite alot of maggots done.

but spiders are poisonous right? wouldn't feeding them to animals make them sick?

The wiki isn't updated with the insectivore farms.
Cage traps catch lots of spiders and such, it may work. But maybe they need to be baited with grubs so it coul be pointless.
What about the prawn trap? Do crustaceans count as bugs?

I don't understand your question, i just told you that it's the way to go... it's how your are supposed to get alot of insect to feed them unless you are close enough in a cave with a freak load of spiders etc.

Did you try to tame insectivore animal with that? It just doesn't work cause you need too much insect and you will only do that all game lol

Insect are poisonous to us not to insectivore animals lol if you cook the insect you can eat them anyway only sanity decrease from most if not all insect that are cooked lol And not animal get sick only if too much poop is there without you cleaning it

No need for it to be spoiled, it can even be cooked as well and i'm pretty sure that you can use fish too (spoil faster than normal meat), if the idea is to get insect you can still get insect from harvesting spoiled meat and vegetables so you get more if it become fertilizer but take time.

To feed your animal it make sense to use small leaf piles, just don't try to feed the composter with that cause it takes forever to feed it... just kill some animal and compost it all ah even bones can be composted and is quite fast to fill it up with bones like meat so win-win.

Insect are poisonous to us not to insectivore animals lol if you cook the insect you can eat them anyway only sanity decrease from most if not all insect that are cooked lol And not animal get sick only if too much poop is there without you cleaning it

i know fertilizer can be used on my farm but i dont know how that would help me getting insects
