Dried Meat Should Last Longer
Dried meat should last 15 - 20 days, and the drawback should be a negative to thirst, like -15 or -40. Having it last 5 - 6 days is a joke, and most ppl will never use it, the forest provides plenty on the go, and you can even just eat raw meat if you need the protein, there's only like 6 different plants and mushrooms that remove parasites, everywhere you look.

I agree that dried meat should last longer. Whats the point in wasting all the time drying it when you can just get more with a single trap every day.

Leave it on the drier but eat it directly from the drier and it lasts forever. If you pick up the meat from the drier it will be rotten. Been like that from the start.

I've been abusing this exploit since it was added. Regardless, this isn't the point. In this game I'm not a homebody, my favorite part about the game is going out exploring and setting up new outposts and bases all over the map. Why wast all that time drying it if-? 1. the decay timer still ticks down after it dries, before being picked up, meaning you pick it up too late and it instantly spoils. and 2. If you can literally just make soups from other animals you one shot with a bow or get from a trap.

We need some craftable Trail Mix at least, that takes days to go bad.

So many things need to be added to the game still.
- Animal Hides from animals turned into leather for armor, pouches, etc...
- Kibble or something similar that is more nutrient dense for the food troughs, they eat so much, even the leaves aren't keeping them full anymore for longer than a day with 2 troughs
- Water movement system. Being able to make a well or pump, or even just simple bamboo water troughs that let running water move through them from one place to the next.

How does hanging meat out on a rack, dry it and make it edible? You would think with the heat and the flies laying maggot eggs in it, it would become rancid within a day or less.

Typically salt is added which preps the meat and keeps almost everything from making it go bad, no moisture typically mean inedible for all bacteria and insects. They just skipped this step in the game, probably because they don't want to add a Grind to the game.

Yes, but salt is not easily obtained when you're not on a sea shore. There's a reason if monthly pay is called salary, salt was just that precious. Smoking meat makes more sense.

The purpose was to "store" them for later consumption. As the dryer allows meat not to spoil until picked up.
