I retested this and it makes sticks and one plank, however if you have no space in your backpack it will be dropped on the ground instead. Please look for plank on the ground as well.

So hitting a log with my axe, will essentially harvest it.
As well, Command Harvest it. Same.

I did go back to take a look on the ground where I harvested. I seen all the sticks there and a Plank board! My backpack was full.

Problem resolved.

Why would a person try to fit a huge plank board into their backpack??

Maybe the DEV's should make it carry; like the logs and long sticks. Just seems more realistic and convenient is all. Plank boards should be carried.

Imagine if I tried to jam a Log into my backpack. Rather just carry it. Seems weird. Haha.

Thanks for the extra detail tip, in if I hit with the axe, it gives me long sticks rather sticks.
That is more ideal.
