This is incorrect. They're also found in the river that flows past the fishing camp.
Adding one not mentioned is the stingray he is in the smaller rivers creeks he's light colour and spots to be like cameo style and hard see.
Ah, your post reminded me that I fished for piranha w/ a rod in the mangrove forest when playing SoA part 1. As you say, I could see them flashing about.
Once I know they're there & how they path, I like having stingray nearby for spearing. They're especially good to have around in the early game, when you might not always have time to hunt.
if you dive off the boat and try to swim accross there, or swim along the cliff wall to the waterfall, you get chewed up.
and the coords the wiki gave me for the weapon rack, ponited that way, but i guess, it was for the weapon rack in non SOA, as i noticed some time later there were 2 sets of coords for what mode your playing in.
Thus the game wanted me to swim accross that large river when using the wrong coord, ment for the other game mode lol.
And the fishing trap and rod, can capture a piranha ever if aren't piranhas on the river, it's randon acording the size of the trap, and the bait

It has nothing to do w/ believing you or not. There's a quest in SoA part 2 where you have to swim among piranha, & you can be killed by them if you don't use armor & sustain too many bites. And no, it's nowhere near a map edge.
This is why I've been adamant about correcting this.
And yes, you can be attacked by them in other places, such as the mangrove forest & the lake Anaconda Island sits on. The first time I was personally bit by one was while wading around by the fishing camp. The wound type they give is "scratch/abrasion".
