Can you place building frames on a balcony?
I have encountered a large number of building bugs with wall placement and mud walls, so I am not sure if it is a bug or not that I am not allowed to place a building frame on my balcony. I was wanting to make a ceiling for my balcony, but I can't put a roof on it right now. Is that a bug or intended?

The building in this game, for want of a better word, is chaotic. It's not at all uncommon to be unable to place blueprints for no apparent reason.

Could you post a screenshot as the balcony is working fine for me. Build the balcony first then place a mud roof blue print onto it.
Is this what your talking about?

then place mud bricks on to it.

the building in the game is notoriously pissy. i actually use mod api to work around this issue. that and 'always show names' is a real life saver.

The devs should really think about incorporating the "build everywhere" mod into the game. The only downside beyond some questionable aesthetics would be build ladders to get to the top of grapple points in addition to other places the player was never meant to get to. If you're doing that, you're kinda purposefully trying to break the game anyways.

I think the questionable aesthetics could easily be solved by ending up between the two placement rulesets. Basically, make building into unchoppable trees and rocks illegal and everything else is fairgame. You can always chop the clipping bush/tree later.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I had a completed mud brick ceiling built on a balcony, but cannot place a new frame upon it. It locks onto the balcony, and is white for a microsecond before turning red, and saying something like "Requires build spot," or something like that.

I'll test building another level onto the balcony. But logically it shouldn't be possible since there is no supports beneath it. It is a slanted balcony .
Build another level only on the main mud roof structure.

It is a bug , I built a balcony with mud roof and cannot place another BP frame on top of the balcony the poles are too short cause they pass through for the ground below but its too high to reach the ground. . The algorythem is either designed not to be able build ontop of balcony when 2nd floor or its bugged.

Ok built a balcony onto the ground level frame it works then.
So the answer is yes you can build onto the balcony so long as its on the ground floor

Here is how I have set up my building. I have a balcony coming from the first floor.

It is not allowing me to place anything on it, though.

I am not sure if there is a quick fix. I have been able to get around these placements by destroying one piece of the structure, then rebuilding it, and I have tried that with the balcony, but it has not worked.

Maybe the roof parellel on the left is obstructing it.
Error shows find availabe space.
Try a bamboo frame BP just for test purposes.
If you could upload your save somewhere like Google My Drive send a link to it I can test it for you.
Sometimes uneven ground also effects it.
