Best base locations in Spirits of Amazonia map?
Hi all,
I just started the dlc and wanted to know if you guys have any suggestions for the SOA map in story mode. I noticed playing the main game that building a large base really was a waste of time as you were forced to keep moving and could just use the facilities of the camps along the way, is it the same here? Or should I really build a base?

I guess it is two questions in the end :P

Thanks!

East of the central native village (where the masked elder sits) and not far from there, at the river, is a good place for building a base.

One of your goals is taking children back to the village and you will have to speak to the elder some times, so you will get there quite often.

Best answer is build many small camps for starters, the small hut water collectore and fire so you can cook sleep and save, then when you come across them they come in handy.
Sounds like we chose the same beautiful spot Skarmo.
I set up my main base SOA 1 just up from the Elder Village since we get a free food pack quite often from the bowl next to the elder . Its also on the river . lots of capiburra there bananas everything we need.
Elder Village SOA 1 is on the right just a small walk to the right path away. 39W 35S approx. You need the new map to see those co ordinates.

Wish our main base would list on the map like a camp symbol.

Yes, the one with the bamboo roof remnants.

I too have many small camps distributed all over the map, but I like having one main base where I store things in mud boxes and have all the plants for making bandages at hand.

When I go outside, I see the pond with the waterfalls where the river begins. You have wood here as well as bamboo, so you can build as you like.

This is from the inside. I "misused" one fire place for storing soups/infusions.

There is so many wonderful beautiful places for bases in the new map that I 100% agree but practicality I find being close to the Elder is Handy.
Also we get food rations often in the bowl next to him..

Speaking for myself, I tend to forget all about them, & by the time I think to check, there's a big pile of spoiled ones.

I rarely get excited when I find one in a mound; provided I have access to water, I'd rather find a bone, as the rations give food but no energy.

Fun to find in a mound: A live mouse. ^^

well the base game i can complete the storyline with out building anything other than small fires under the tribute bowls. a spear, and a axe...

by speed running between rituals, you barely even need to eat, as they reset your health status and the time of the day so as long as you walk on the long distances your fine...

now, ive not played much of the expansion, im currently working on it, due to getting fed up of speed running the original game, but i agree with those who are saying it makes sense to make a base of anykind near the elder tribe village...

as such when i say base i mean a small one close by, i dont see the requirment for a large base of any kind in this game at all, given the expansion requires more warfare, you need a base for cooking, creating armour and not much more...

so i guess the point im making is you only need a tiny area like the little beach type area which is located the moment you start the game, access to water, save/sleep/cook with access to mud close to elder

then perhaps a halfway house to the west zone...

I like having a nice base; there's just something about having that place to go to when you've had enough of trekking the jungle for awhile. ^^ I don't tend to build big anymore, but I still set myself up w/ all the comforts. :lunar2020contentsnake:

My favorite spot on the new map: 40W36S.
