Surprised by map differences between Story & Survival

I wasn't expecting this many changes to the map! Playing my first Survival game and it's been interesting so far.

SPOILERS AHEAD

First of all, I had no idea where the first map was. I was a bit surprised that it wasn't at the ruined camp again. I was going blind for quite a while until I located it.

I was also surprised to find the grappling hook where I did. I wonder if the gold mine is even accessible?

I wasn't able to enter the Omega lab, which makes sense. Also making sense, but catching me totally off guard, was the absence of the original tent. I got up there and it was like POOF! I just wanted a cot to sleep in lol.

Was the rope climb above and to the east of Lambda there in story mode? I must have missed it if it is. That is a huge cave network, wow.

Anyway, lots of little changes. I'm sure more discoveries await.

No
I'd recommend to walk thru the SoA before playing Survival to avoid spoilers.

Hmm.. you have a point. I know there's a 4th map out there from SoA. I also just wandered into a cave near the main village that was blocked in Story but was open in Survival. I was very lost when I came out and immediately backtracked.

I'm on Day 12 of my first Survival run. I hope to one day graduate to permadeath like TLD. I think I'll take a break and check out SoA.

I'm now running 5th try of SoA on Green Hell difficulty. Hope this time I'll do everything right =)

Yikes! I'm still playing Welcome to the Jungle. Reminds me of when I first played TLD - Voyager mode! The only difference between King of the Jungle and Green Hell modes is permadeath, right? One day I'll graduate lol. Still very noob.

I started up a SoA game and wow.. so lost. Those caves near the spawn are disorienting. Hopefully the map won't be too hard to find.

So.. in Survival mode, are all 4 maps available? Or just the 3 from Story mode?

That must have been where I got lost after going through that cave near the village.
