what am i doing wrong?
my guy seems like he needs to sleep more than a 400 pound lazy gamer.

I sleep and force my self to wake up at 6 am when the its actualy somewhat birght enough to see, usualy my stamina bar is at max at this time.

then after awhile of hunting logs, and rope, and sticks, prob around 3pm or so, im on the verge of fainting, and sleeping till my stamia is back puts me around midnight, where i need to just waste 6 hours doing nothing cause its pitch black and i cant even find the bed unless the on screen white HUD marker shows up.

its usualy not till 7am min that its bright enough for me to even see a stick on the ground within arms reach let alone farther.

why cant my guy stay awake for the full day light hours at least?

do you sprint everywhere?

I have no special settings and I am able to play during nights although yes, the visibility suffers for it. What you can do is plan some "safe" activities for night time like building, while keeping exploration to days. Although with some practice you can do most things at night as well

Otherwise you need to keep yourself well fed with all the nutrients which also increases your max energy. Also, a lot of the better food (most cooked things and some shrooms?) also gives just plain + energy. While it can give just few point (1-5 energy), when consumed on several items, this can give you the upper hand. However, just keeping yourself fed is the true key - with full bar I can very well keep myself going more than 24h - in fact there are even status effects and achievements related to this (insomnia).

All of the above is my own experience and note that, IIRC, I am playing on the second hardest difficulty which may or may not have effect on what I just stated.

Low proteins and carbs will burn your energy faster.
Skills levels will help reduce this over time.
Night with moon is as good as daytime light for me.
Maybe have a look at your graphics options and increase light/brightness

Edit
Also playing SOA the poisoned water will add fever so sleeping is now required mode often if you touch that water, start crafting a a quick leaf bed before cleaning rivers etc of the poison debre.

Certain foods can increase stamina. For example, I eat all the yellow mushroms I run across and it add like +1/+2 to stamina. doesnt seem like much but it can add up if you keep eating.

Other foods will give even more boosts especially soups.

The character does tire out fast if you run a lot and if he is not well-fed. You can find blue mushrooms around the base of those large trees where you also find brazil nuts - they are loaded with whatever the fungal equivalent of caffeine is.

Hey, Myth. ^^ It sounds like something is off in your brightness settings; I play using whatever the defaults are, & haven't experienced the issues you describe.

You say you force yourself to be up by 6am, which makes me wonder if you're getting a full eight hours sleep. If you don't, you will tire earlier in the day than if you do.

As stated, don't sprint too much, maintain a balanced diet, & snack to replenish your energy when/as needed. When working in one area, soups are good for this; when trekking in the bush, small smoked meats work well, along w/ the blue & frilled yellow mushrooms (fruits & nuts, afaik, don't provide energy, so don't rely on those). Also, stay properly hydrated.

Good luck. ^^ :fourLeafClover::lunar2020ratinablanket:

if i turn the brightness up so i can somewhat see the tent at night, the mid day is super washed out like im staring into the sun.

could it be cause im running game mode high contrast / high color monitors with some kinda AI built in to them for crisp colors?

Yeah the darkness is in your settings somewhere. I normally don't like having my monitor too bright, but then night time in games like these get difficult. Turning up the brightness in game made night time much better for me. If the in game settings don't help, then it's probably something else. (Or maybe I don't notice it being washed out because I live in a desert and I think that's normal, lol.)

I usually have the opposite problem and try my best to stay awake after sunset so I don't wake up at 3am in the dark. Maybe I should try sprinting more so I'm tired at night.

Wow, that's bad. Unfortunately, I don't know much about tech, so can't be much help. :(

this is what it looks like around 8-9 am
nextgengranny Jun 28, 2021 @ 4:07pm
What the skybox is showing in that screenshot is definitely incorrect for 8-9am. If you're sure it wasn't 8-9pm, it may be that your save has become corrupted (or if you've had these issues from the start, you may have had a bad install).
Jaunitta 🌸 Jun 28, 2021 @ 6:17pm
Outdated gpu drivers could also cause this if altering the brightness scale doesnt solve it.
I had this screenshot for something else but does show the brightness can be adjusted
