Otherwise you need to keep yourself well fed with all the nutrients which also increases your max energy. Also, a lot of the better food (most cooked things and some shrooms?) also gives just plain + energy. While it can give just few point (1-5 energy), when consumed on several items, this can give you the upper hand. However, just keeping yourself fed is the true key - with full bar I can very well keep myself going more than 24h - in fact there are even status effects and achievements related to this (insomnia).
All of the above is my own experience and note that, IIRC, I am playing on the second hardest difficulty which may or may not have effect on what I just stated.
Skills levels will help reduce this over time.
Night with moon is as good as daytime light for me.
Maybe have a look at your graphics options and increase light/brightness

Edit
Also playing SOA the poisoned water will add fever so sleeping is now required mode often if you touch that water, start crafting a a quick leaf bed before cleaning rivers etc of the poison debre.
Other foods will give even more boosts especially soups.
You say you force yourself to be up by 6am, which makes me wonder if you're getting a full eight hours sleep. If you don't, you will tire earlier in the day than if you do.
As stated, don't sprint too much, maintain a balanced diet, & snack to replenish your energy when/as needed. When working in one area, soups are good for this; when trekking in the bush, small smoked meats work well, along w/ the blue & frilled yellow mushrooms (fruits & nuts, afaik, don't provide energy, so don't rely on those). Also, stay properly hydrated.
Good luck. ^^
ya i only force myself up if the 2 bars are not raising anymore, as i would sleep just to get the daylight.
and yea i do have a magnet pinky finger to the shift button.
this is what it looks like with a full moon.
you can see i cant even see the tent right in front of me.

if i turn the brightness up so i can somewhat see the tent at night, the mid day is super washed out like im staring into the sun.
could it be cause im running game mode high contrast / high color monitors with some kinda AI built in to them for crisp colors?
I usually have the opposite problem and try my best to stay awake after sunset so I don't wake up at 3am in the dark. Maybe I should try sprinting more so I'm tired at night.
lol, im in a part of the world that its dark outside 14 hours a day for 8 months of the year and the rest its bright out for 14 hours a day lol.
