Getting dirty
I've been playing a bit of this game and I'm relatively new to it. So far it feels very polished but also like a lot is missing. It doesn't feel complete in a way.

That said, I have a big question about surviving being dirty in the more dry areas of the jungle. Since I'm new I don't have a clear picture of the whole map, but I got myself lost in some cliff areas and I couldn't find water anywhere and it was the dry season in the game.

So basically I got dirty. Being dirty is a big bad thing to happen, because every time you eat something you have a chance to get parasites when dirty - or so I believe. Also you can get parasites anyway by being dirty. I know what plants can cure parasites, but when you eat them while being dirty you have a chance of getting more parasites. So no matter how many curatives I ate, I couldn't get rid of them. It was impossible to get clean either and since there was no rain, I was pretty much doomed to die.

I had around 15 parasites (icon number) in me by the time I was losing so much health I couldn't battle it. I started eating everything I came across be it alive or not, as long as it gave nutrition. As I kept eating all and everything I found I eventually ran a bit too fast and got a nasty wound. That would would never heal despite using maggots and the best bandages on it - because I was dirty.

By the time I was about to give up I came across a camp of savages and just went up to them and shot 2 dead. The third one just touched me with his finger and I fell dead.

So tl;dr - Why can't I wipe my ass clean on banana leaves?

for your TLDR you cant do that because it still doesnt clean you, wiping my hands on a napkin still leaves the bacteria and stuff on my hands. Hell if that leaf/napkin also has germs on it I will now have become infected with that. It also tends to remove the surface dirt but not all of it and the dirt is still under nails.

The answer is just find water, there are no sections so cut off that you cant find any water within a few minutes, if you really need it make a detour and find a stream or pond to wash in.

If you get lost, keep trekking until you find a spot that's habitable, setting up overnight camps as needed along the way. It doesn't matter whether you know where you are or not. As you've seen, access to water is a vital concern during the dry season.

Parasites aren't bacteria.

Ironically, I just found myself having to take my own advice in a similar situation: Lost, dirty, dry season; had to eat to keep my energy up enough to avoid passing out. I wasn't overly dirty, so only got four parasites, & finally found my way to the tribal camp, where I could sleep w/o expending energy crafting a bed. I made my way to the drug farm the next morning; by the time I got there, my fat & protein levels were low enough that the little watch symbol had popped up.

I had orange cap mushrooms, two carcasses, & a bunch of Raffia palm nuts on me that I had picked up along the way, so after (finally) washing up, I ate up at my campsite there, which left me fit enough to return to my main base on the river.

Based on that experience, I'll add one more thing to what I said earlier: Don't let the stress of feeling jammed up distract you from the basics, such as gathering as you go.
