So at the moment if I lay down a frame, I have to fully build that frame before I can lay down the blueprint for a shed on the side or a wall. Can you change this?

The one problem with this is that sometimes you have an idea for the structure you want to build and you lay out one of the pieces but then half way through you find one dead tree or one hidden boulder that you had not spotted and it becomes impossible to finish your structure so you then have to knock the whole thing down and start again which also means you lose some of your materials.

If you could lay out the entire structure first to see that it fits it would be so much better.

This is the perfect example of why I want this. In this picture you can see that I laid out the first row of frames for my house I then went to put the second row down and even though from the red ghost image you can see that the frame does not touch the tree but it will not let me place it.

So now I have to decide to change my building shape or knock the whole thing down and start over. If we could just lay out the entire building first then it would save us this problem.

I think this should be fixed, in the sense that ghost placeholders should snap together.

Been following this game for a while now, seeing how it develops. Item placement in the world is something i'm watching and really hope it gets refined. Being able to frame out big structures is huge before committing.

Survival games, esp ones that cater to the singe player experience should allow you to place objects anywhere you'd like (within reason). A rock or tree clipping through a structure should not prevent the player from building where they want. Sometimes this adds to the aesthetic appeal, IE: placing a structure up against a cliff wall, incorporating a tree into the structure, or sealing off gaps in a building that's occluded by static world objects.

It seems common practice in survival games like Stranded Deep, Subnautica, or any other game that uses "snappable" structures to be placed in the world to use this mechanic. But its one that really bothers me as someone who enjoys building grand structures with high aesthetic appeal.

100 I am with yall snap togehter ghost figures so we know what will work before we build it would take the hassle out of building a structure to find out after building the next piece is red. Been there done that I hate it. Makes work of all my home building efforts. Its like the only place you can build a decent sized home is on already cleared areas or that main area behind drug camp you have to clear yourself. I dont want to live behind drug camp just to make a decent home.

i agree too, constructing one part and then even through it looks like there is space it is red and syou have to remove the thing and rebuild it again and if you want to build it so it is 1. a savespot and 2. a house then its more of a hassle since you have theoretical to build a small cottagfe for saving and then saving with every step to check if the construct is at the right space to build

I did find a good way around this. There is a 3rd party piece of software called Wemod. It is used for cheating in games. Personally I love this game and think it is far better without any kind of cheating. However, one of the trainers in Wemod allows you to turn on easy building which is good for planning your buildings. You turn it on, save your game, then build the building as you want it to make sure it is possible. Once you know how to lay out the building then just turn the easy building cheat back off and load your last save. Then you can build your building correctly.

my wemod trainer isnt working at all. it says its active and i can here the ping when i turn on an option but none of them work in game. i messaged the forum but dunno. seems like im not the only one with this problem

On the list on the side, is the trainer listed under Compatible Trainers? For me it is but some of my games such as Mad Max have trainers that are listed under Incompatible Trainers. Is your game updated to the latest version? Mine is and it is showing as being compatible with the Mr Antifun trainer.
