Issue attempting to write data to cloud storage
I can't save my game in any of the available slots. I get an error saying "Game could not be saved. There was an issue attempting to write data to cloud storage".
I've tried...
1) quitting and restarting.
2) Verifying the integrity of the local files - all ok
3) Uninstalling and reinstalling.
4) Checking my hard drive for errors.
5) Checking how much available space is on my hdd - over 400Gb free!

I'm pulling my hair out - my game is literally unplayable now. Please any help would be appreciated.

Make sure any sorta firewalls arnt blocking steam from communicateing.

If you cant write to the cloud that sounds like a client side networking issue. Id start investigateing from there.

I'm not using any firewalls. There are four save slots - at first it just wouldn't let me save to two of them - the others were ok. So it's not anything this side as far as I can tell. Then after a couple of days (still being able to save in two slots but not the other two) it stopped me being able to save in any of them.
It's really weird and I have no idea what to do.

Thats.. honestly pretty wierd.

Im at a loss.

It's even more weird because I deleted the two saved games in the slots where it wouldn't let me save. It still wouldn't let me save to those slots.
However, the only thing that I can observe that might be causing it is that I was playing on normal difficulty for the other two slots (the ones I could originally save to) but the two where I couldn't save were used for King of the Jungle difficulty.
I don't know if that has any relevance whatsoever.

If nobody can help here, what do I do? Contact Creepy Jar? Contact Steam?

I was under the impression the game runs fine without being connected to the internet. If you launch steam in offline mode does it allow you to save then?

I'm 95% positive I had a power outage and played some green hell during it, loaded my saves and saved just fine.

Also just grasping at straws, is cloud sync enabled in your steam settings?

Working in AV / IT, i've seen so many instances of computers just doing their own thing, sometimes entering into the paranormal in terms of when they decide to start working and when to not.

I also assume this game is the only one where you are having save issues with steams cloud???

Also holy crap @ the ammount of time you've put into GH :0

Edit: Another possibility is file corruption that wasn't removed when you reinstalled the game. Perhaps try manually clearing the userdata folder?

^ this thread may be of some help as well

Yes, cloud sync is enabled.

Yes, it's the only game I'm having issues with steams cloud.

You think I have a lot of hours in Green Hell? Check my MGSV count! :)

Ok so I can't launch steam in offline mode just yet. I'm trying to get the "Mr... I don't feel so good achievement" and if I close the game now I will lose all my progress. If I can't save, this is my only chance to get the achievement - reinstalling the game later won't help.

Will check out clearing my userdata folder later too.

Thank you. You're being very helpful.

Well, steam closed down Green Hell for me anyway when I attempted to go in offline mode. So, playing in offline mode, Green Hell still wouldn't let me save in all four slots. Exactly the same error message.

I've now also sent an email to Creepy Jar in the hopes that they know what the issue is.

Did you figure it out in the end? Im starting to have this issue and its pretty annoying

AdigA - my ptoblem seemed to be that I had created save games which were huge (I'd built a lot of camps, etc). Creepy Jar said that they were going to introduce a patch for this but I'd lost all patience by then and moved onto other games.
I really think if the issue persists you should get in touch with them asap - they're really helpful.

I just started to get this error in my game (version 2.2.2) despite always playing offline and with cloud saves off and I managed to fix the issue by deleting my remotecache.vdf file, which had become corrupted somehow. The file can be found in your Steam userdata (C:\...\Steam\userdata\[userID]\815370).

I had to redo all my game preferences but the game saved for me again after that - no more weird cloud storage error.

Is there an sync error for Steam cloud next to the Play tab?
look below the Artwork. click on that link .
It should download now.
Also delete web cache and steam downloads cache
Then disable cloud in GH properties for a while as there is steam drop off wth sales on.

My husband is getting this same issue.
This solves it temporarily:

I'm hosting the multiplayer game, and we can play only a few sessions before suddenly my husband can no longer save due to this error. It's irritating because every time this happens we have to get him back to where we were before he lost his location and some portion of his inventory.

We've started dropping his inventory before he exits which leads to a dupe bug... actually, I guess you don't need this error to dupe objects... Anyway, it's annoying

Steam now requires cloud sync with our games. In GHproperties>enable remote sves, now look over to the right of Play see Steam sync is showing and if there is a problem such out of out of date or mis matched saves.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2922699758
Select saves on local drive only if you select cloud it will wipe your saves.

Once Steam is synced you can safely disable cloud remote saves in the GH properties again.

Please try verifying local files and/or reinstalling the game.
