Gold bag / green mushroom (SPOILER)

Does the gold bag or the green mushroom, which you can find at the very end of the story, have any use or purpose? I tried to melt the gold, but sadly you can't craft a golden spear :(

It doesn't seem you can do anything with the gold bag. A gold spear would be awesome.

I carried that gold bag throughout the entire Story mode and in the end it just becomes a mantel piece no value. I do get the impression it maybe of use at some other time in a new update possibly. Why else would we be able to pick it up? What is its purpose.
At least we could have used to it to pay off Jake's debt or Mia's medical bills.

imo the gold purpose is to teach not being greedy, whats the point of carry 1kg of gold if there is nothing to buy? so u carry it along 2/3 of the game for nothing, loosing space and weight in your backpack because u just cant drop a bag of gold!
the green mushroom teaches us not being too much curious! the audio tape says it is really bad, but we can avoid trying, can we?

Wait, there is a football head? I have finished the story (bad ending) but I have never seen anything like it.

Maybe is just for for make you lose space and weight, gold in the jungle is totally useless, but many of us brought it back for the whole game, me too.

Same here. thought i could bribe some natives but only ran into crocodiles...they don't want no gold....
