Why can't I create a dedicated server with 70 players to join ? Am i missing something ? It does not make sense why not!

It is a co op game. The next relese will include PVE . Story mode co op.
Dedicated server costs real money and atm they are not interested I dont see anything on their web site regarding this , probably too busy and the game has not reached that level of player participation.
These tools is for if you want to run a server, or want to make things for a game if they provide you tools to do so by the game dev/publisher.
Dedicated server tool, that means, you can set up your own server on your system to host the server on.

The game uses peer to peer communications so there is no dedicated server option. Everything runs on the host computer so if you had 70 players, your computer might not be able to handle it. With that said though, you can try this patch which allows up to 8 people to play together instead of the default of 4. Everyone who wants to play on your "server" needs to apply the patch otherwise they will not have nameplates over their heads

I do not understand how a cooperative game lacks a dedicated server, it is simply a shot in the foot, in fact the game browser is simply empty. I always set up an online server to play with my friends, so we can all play whenever we can, and we coordinate to do things together from time to time.

I would really love to be able to hsot a dedicated server.
I dont mean something like a 24/7 server, some kind of community server ...
But a server that will manage all the map related stuff while the clients are doing inventory stuff.

No need for pvp, 70 slots or something.

Only: If you friend wants to play alone, start the server, your friend is happy.
Once you play togehter again, there is no problem having differnet save games and stuff.

I am playing the forest right now and there is the same.
I don't know how the game behaves if one of us (we are only 2 ppl) wants to play alone for a while. Building, Farming, whatever.
So we only play if we both have time.

Take a look at valheim, i don't see any public servers. All password protected and most likely for a small group of friends. Same for the server i am playing on.
But since a friend has a server running anyway, he added valheim to it and we (the rest) is able to play without any "server-hoster"-player.

I just want dedicated servers so my friends and I can play the same game but don't have to all be online at the same time.
Not talking about large number public server, 4 players max. Almost all other games like this mange to do it.

A dedicated server won't work like you expect because the game uses peer-to-peer communication. They would have to rewrite a ton of net code. I guess someone could run the game on a server, leaving the host logged in 24/7 but then you'd have a mysterious player just standing in your world. There would also be problems with running it headless like most servers are. It's just a big mess because of their choice to use p2p

Other games have moved from peer-to-peer to client-server and other Unity based games have a dedicated server options.
I understand there's work involved but it's not impossible.

Would love a dedicated server, have a second machine i could set it up on so my friends could play while i'm not online. Any plans to add this feature?
