PATCH: Read if you want more than 4 people in CO-OP

We had a lot of people wanting to play this game together but it only supports 4 players. So I made this patch for my friends and I, and I decided to release it as opensource so everyone else who wants more than 4 people can play with up to 8. Source code and binary releases are available.

Note: The readme also says this but everyone who wants to play together will need to apply this patch otherwise people who join after 4 players will have no name plates above their heads and may result in buggy gameplay

This probably doesn't need to be said but the patch will need to be re-applied if Green Hell is updated

Just backup your co op saves to a new folder and name it My Original.
Any co op with friends just back them up to a new folder name it with 8 friends .
this way you can restore your original with no loss.

Download it, run it, click patch and that's it. If you installed the game outside of steam, it will ask you to find the "Assembly-CSharp.dll" file which is typically in Green Hell's "GH_Data\Managed" directory.

But usually, just download it, run the file and click "patch". Each person who wants to play with you will have to run the patch on their own Green Hell

This ain't working anymore. We have just tried doing it today, all were patched with the mod but can only invite 3 more. Tried inviting directly via steam but only says invite to watch.

Did you have any other mods installed when you tried this one? If so, make sure you run the patch last, after installing any other mods. You can also verify that your game is patched by running the patcher a second time, it will tell you if the game is patched or not

I'll have to look into it more but the patcher targets very specific code so if it finds what it's looking for, it most likely works; I say that but it is possible the devs added extra checks to prevent more players. Either way though, let me know if you have other mods installed and if you tried patching after other mods and I'll investigate on my end

Good question
GH uses co op and co op only supports 4 players and as it is now GH uses Peer to Peer network which help reduce cpu resources through a shared protocol.
