Black Screen with Sound upon Startup

I just purchased Green Hell yesterday. My computer uses Windows 10 and meets all the requirements for this game. However, whenever I start the game, it goes to a black screen, but I still hear menu music and see the mouse icon shaped like a spear that I can move freely, but nothing else comes up. The screen remains black while the music plays. I have lowered the resolution, opened it in window, and even lowered the graphics quality, but I keep getting a black screen. Please resolve this issue or tell me what I can do on my end to fix it.

If you use the 1024x768 and the windowed mode you can play the game.

but only in this small window....

I hope the dev will fix this issue!

That's the thing. I opened it window and same resolution and still a small black screen with a white spear head mouse pointer.

Can either of you increase the resolution in window mode? use the highest?

Could be a bad driver that was updated recently?
Or on the hand your GPU maybe needs new drivers?
Did you do the tutorial first?
So I can picture it, you load game, click on survival. Select your difficulty
then the save slot?
You get a momentary black screen then Day 1

open run
type in dxdiag press enter

I don't even get to the main menu. I can't select anything before it's just a black picture. I can play other games no problem like Frost Punk and Darkest Dungeon. I ran Can I Run It on my computer for Green Hell and I meet all the requirements.

Thanks, i'm not sure where to start, you have never run it yet?
There is no saves to send to Creepy Jaw.
You may have to consider a refund before its too late.
Try uninstalling it then reinstalling it.

My personal opinion, this system doesn't have enough juice to play Green Hell's high end
visual performance.
The integrated graphics is failing you.
Small form factor systems are not game based computers rather business systems.

But do try running the game launcher as administrator.
Right-click the game executable or shortcut and select "Run as administrator".
Also check
Drivers for the integrated graphics are up to date.
No windows updates pending.

Did you get a report after the scan? Can Your PC Run it? I'd really like to see that.
You downloaded the Detection.exe it scanned your system?

OptiPlex 980 doesn't natively bundle with windows 10 did you buy it upgraded from windows 7 to to windows 10 or did you upgrade it? That could be related.
It is a fairly old system.
Check you have C++ installed. You should have seen a message installing Visual C++ Redistributable at the start. It installs to both x86 folders and Programfiles folder.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstall. The first thing I did before buying the game was Can You Run It"? It gave me the green check marks for recommended save for the dedicated video ram, but it still met the minimum requirement.

I'll see about getting a refund. Thanks for all the help.

All of a sudden, I started having this issue. Now I just restart a lot. I had some luck running as admin, but I also get the screen stuck (screen not updating) in game after a while, which leaves me with the sound in the back ground and button functionality. I have updated my graphic drivers, reinstalled the game (losing all my save files, for some reason) and even replaced my ram, but still having this issue. So very unhappy.
