MUD UPDATE (MAKING THE NEW TOOLS AND ARMOR TIPS, MUD BUILDINGS)

So iv been able to craft almost everything in the new update except i havnt been able to find how to make the iron axe.

Mud its self is pretty easy. Find any body of water and expand the options to ether drink, Wash yourself, Take mud. Mix 2 lots of mud in the mud mixer with one campfire ash and about 150-160 units of water from your water containers and mix. Creates 8 mud bricks used for all of the new mud buildings which are placed over existing walls and so on apart from the new shower and Storage container. -Tip for the storage container when trying to use 2 planks is to clear most of your inventory and after picking the plank up in backpack view rotate the plank so it will fit in the bag-.

Iron farming is best done by crafting a pick (new item) with 2 rope 1 stick and stone blade to start with until you make the iron blades. Search caves near by and look for rusty looking cracks along the walls. Not all nodes will have iron and if it does it you will see the mine iron when looking at it. The pick will save you bashing at walls for ever and ruining your axe to get the ore.

Iron ore and empty cans are placed into the new mud furnace along with charcoal and lit to produce melted iron after time. it takes roughly 3 coals to finish one melted iron.
The furnace will chew though coals quickly and its best to use the Charcoal kiln. After building the kiln you will need to load it up with sticks until full and then use a mud brick to seal the unit. You then need to light the kiln and wait for it to burn out. Once finished open the kiln and it will produce 3 camp fire ash and 15 coal.

Making mould forms for tools, armor and weapons.

Create a mould by harvesting 1 mud brick. This should give you 3 fresh moulds. Tip is not to harvest it over your mud mixer as the moulds are big and if your inventory is full they will drop under the mud bricks inside the mud mixer and you will need to remove some bricks to collect them.

Iron arrow heads
Iron arrow heads are made by using 1 Mould, 1 melted iron from the furnace and an arrow to craft the formed mould. It is then placed into the furnace and after the cycle will give you 3 iron arrow head blanks.

Iron Blade
The iron Blade is made from 1 mould, 1 melted iron and a stone blade. Place in the furnace to make the iron Blade blank.

Iron Armor
Iron armor is made with 1 mould, 1 melted iron and a stick to creat the form. Place in the furnace and wait to get the iron armor blank.

Use the blanks in crafting as you would normally when crafting the items.
Eg: Iron arrow = 1 small stick, 2 feathers and 1 arrow head blank.
Iron Pick = 1 stick, 2 ropes and 1 iron blade blank.

I cant seem to find whats used to make the axe form to create a mould for the iron axe head at the moment...... If anyone knows let me know. Cheers

to be honest it's a waste of time, make a stone blade from two stones and then make the blade axe. It's durable and you find iron so seldom it doesn't matter that it takes 4 extra seconds... yep it takes only 4 extra seconds vs the iron pick axe and getting the materials to make the pick axe is a ♥♥♥♥♥.
Save your iron for blades in your spears, arrows, and armour. Use tribal obsidian for your skinning blade. and Stone Blade axe.
Trust me it's the best mix.

Thanks for everyones reply. I found that it must have been an issue with loading a previous save after the update. there were a few things that i tried that should have worked but didnt. I now have access to door frames now after the new patch and can craft the iron axe.

I'm pretty sure that you need to add a rope to this, right?

Iron arrow = 1 small stick, 2 feathers, 1 arrow head blank, 1 rope.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It’s a waste of time like other things, I can still oneshot a Jaguar by a stone spear, maximum efficiency with lowest waste of energy and time, and for example why I need to build a big mud house when a simple hut have the same function? Make me more safe? Keep me hot? Make me sleep better? No it’s just a waste of time and energy and this is the furthest thing from survival concept.

If the mud buildings take more damage from the tribals that's something. I haven't tested the damage of mud building's yet. In my current play through I live in the cave right as you enter the new water map zone. I use the mud buildings to make a wall so the tribals can only attack me from one tiny spot.
As far as the weapons go, yeah there is no real appreciable difference with most of the weapons except the metal arrows. I'm only at day 30 with my archery at about level 14 and it will bleed out a tribal with 1 shot in about 10 seconds. Bow and arrow is the way to go in this game for sure. I took out 5 tribals at once with it the other day. Never used another weapon.

They have corrected the axe crafting items and at the time of this post was correct. The game is forever changing. Metal axe should be 1 stick, 1 metal axe blade and 1 rope.

drug camp and the docks, that's for sure.
I think I found some at the abandoned camp (46'W 26'S) but I'm not completely sure about that last one.
But 100% a lot of cans in the drug camp and at the docks.
Some of them are not empty, but I'm sure you can think of a way to get that problem solved ;)
