Odd Jaguar Behavior
Earlier I started a new game on Welcome to the Jungle difficulty, i had a fire going at the abandoned tribal village. I walked away to get more sticks or something and when I came back a jaguar came from the other side of the village. I crouched and got my spear ready but it just walked straight up to the fire acted like it was sniffing the ground by it or something. Then when I walked forward it bounded off like they do when they are hurt.

Is this a normal behavior?

Thank you. I just recently got this the game and was honestly worried if the cats were going to be coming right into camp all the time.

but turns out the cats are very easy to kill and are dumb ai

if you stand on a ledge or large rock the cat will stand still and not move
then go for a spear headshot

Thank you, I will most certainly watch out for them in the future. I have since moved camps to the over by the fishing camp. I have only seen one cat over there so far and it seemed a fairly safe distance. Hasn't come near camp yet. :)

The cats will be attracted to Fire light. However; they don't like to get very close to hot fire... they dont like it. Sometimes if the AI cat accidentally walks into a fire. It will get burnt! And take damage. And then try to run away hurt.

I am not sure if their AI were programmed to become curious about Fire, and walk up to it to get a bit burnt, on purpose! As cats and animals in the wild do stupid things like this; as we once did when we were early Humans. And still do... as early human toddlers!

That is interesting. I have noticed over several days in that tribal village this cat seems to be very curious about the fire and has interacted with it several times now both lit and unlit. I watched it walk up to the unlit fire sniff around and walk off.

Haven't got a chance to play around with it too much as I later left and moved to the Anaconda Island the cat there doesn't seem to be able to go across the bridge.

I recently had it that I was in the middle of lighting tinder when a big cat attacked me from behind. It happened at the same time I put the tinder on the camp fire and it took off like a bat out of hell! Don't know if it burned itself on the fire or was scared of it but thought I would add the note. I don't think it even hit me as it looked like it aborted mid attack. It didn't come back either.

Very cool. ^^ I was unaware of these behaviors in the Big Cats.

dunno if this is being looked into but jaguars just climbed into my tree house via the rope, as if walking vertically up it....so jaguars still seem to be weird...

These little kittens are a bit shy and maybe you misunderstand their behaviour. They are just looking for a dry and warm place to stay and maybe they want to hug you and cuddle a bit. Be nice to the little kittens.
