Spear fishing became useless after the water update

Hi, the new water update is great, but, it's almost impossible to go spearfishing, you can't wield a spear underwater and most bodies of water that contain fish are to deep to walk over. Will there be a fix to that mechanic? Maybe adding more fish to shallow waters, and more shallow water bodies. Or maybe a spear that can be wield underwater, so spearfishing can be useful again.

Agreed, this has become a pet peeve of mine as well since it happened. The Forest also made this rather dumb decision to not let you spear underwater as well and it always bothered me.

Still can spearfish in the shallow streams at least.

Cant carry anything into water now. Most other new features seem pretty nice. The water is much clearer.
All we can do is post into bugs, Creepy Jaw is really good responding to them.
I noticed a patch downloaded today. Lets see what they fixed

Fixed - Changes in key bindings didn’t affect swimming & diving
Fixed - Missing buildings and items on “anaconda island” for old saves (before v0.3.0)
Fixed - Duplicated bridge ghost after loading the game

You can still use them for shallow streams. I do hope they add a way to spearfish under water. Was one of the first things i wanted to do when i went swiming and saw all those lil fishes.

You can still throw your spear to kill fish. When you pick up your thrown spear, the fish will be looted automatically.
And you can pick up spears when swimming. Still needs a fix

It has become more challenging of course, but still, It is doable with a little of patience

Tested it out and managed to bag half a dozen arowana in short order. Nice tip!

I actually got a crab with my obsidian spear. :)
Now we start talking fishing tips haha love it.

No problem. I hadn't figured out fishing yet and needed some protein so i just tried it.

Bump. Just started playing the game,and my first instinct was to throw the spear at the fish. Which works perfectly as mentioned

However, i noticed after eating fish for several days that my spearfishing skill was at 0. This seems stupid, since thrusting doesn't seem to work very well at all.

i guess they should allow you to get skill from throwing your spear, but what does the skill actually do? like your going to get that fish no matter what skill its at

Skill leveling mainly affects how much stamina you use while doing it. Big factor in one on one fights.
