How do I make an obsidian spear

I got an obsidian stone at the plane crash cave, and I made a blade out of it because a stone blade is what you use to make a stone spear, but I couldn't make a spear with it. I looked it up and found that you just use the raw stone, but I thought stone spears and stuff used to be made with raw stones and they changed that so I'm not sure if this is still true. If it is true, could anyone tell me where I might find more obsidian?

Some cave have it, lookout for spiders.. press tab>click on craft icon rightside > drag/drop on obsidian stone natural state ( no need to do anything to obsidan stone ) add one long stick one rope = obsidian spear.
stone spear requires that you craft 2 stone first to stone blade. then craft the stone blade it sits on craft table add a long stick and rope crafts to stone spear.

Every cave has 1 or more obsidian stones. 1 stone 1 long stick and rope and there it is. But I wouldn't recommend it because obsidian stones does not respawn, and spear has less durability then one you make with stone blade and they deal same damage to natives.

What else would I do with it then?

The only reason it has less durability is because you do not craft it very often, there are two levels to crafting in the game that I've seen, if you have your crafting skill to 100/100, you will make any item at 65% durability by default. It increases from 65% to 100% the more times you craft it. Stone is common so you will see that at 100% more often than not because you've never made the obsidian before to raise it from 65 to 100. Same goes for every other item, if you want 100% durability, craft it multiple times.

But there is no enough obsidian to craft it that many times, it doesn't respawn.

Theres plenty of obsidian just scattered on different caves. I used quite a few obsidian axes, still having a lot of obsidian...

What I really want to know is how come we can kill any animal with a single spear toss but not humans. As far as balance goes this seems silly, by throwing that spear we lose our ability to fight with it until we pick it back up, you can not fire arrows fast enough to make up for this in my opinion, that delay between firing arrows is way too long. Obsidian spear is not worth making until it actually makes a noticable dent in combat, such as one shotting humans.

Yeah my main complain is that single shot kill - makes everything way too easy. And if you could kill Jaguar with a spear then you could sure as hell kill naked, unarmored man... But really I dont want one shot kill at all. This game is way too easy as it is - we need some though enemies not one shot, boring kills...

Have you fought a jaguar after failing to hit it with the spear toss? Those things can single handidly kill you without much you can do to stop it except get lucky. The devs pride themselves on realism so the spear SHOULD kill naked men the same way it kills the jaguar. (Realistically I'm not sure it would be instant either way)

For the natives I have some success in melee either with a spear or an axe. Remember R will block and have bandages you will need them.

I occasionally have been disarmed and it seems I then can't arm another weapon eg axe gone hit hot key for machete and for some reason it won't go into my hand. At this point it is death for me.

I'm wondering if it is a game mechanic, bug or just me being a gumby.
