Debug Console Commands / A way to delete objects?
Hello guys, I've been playing this game in another computer and I'm planning to buy it again for this computer just as soon as the coop mode is released, indeed I'm planning to gift it and convince a few friends who are already interested.

However, since I finished the story mode and I'm experimenting with the debug console in survival mode [great story btw though!] I've found myself getting crazy when I have to delete a bunch of leafs and sticks all around when I'm clearing an area before starting to build and such.

I was tryin g to figure if there's a way to delete items in an easier way than it is right now but couldn't find anything. Tried searching for mods, searching for info regarding the debug log console commands and other ways but nothing was found.

I'd like to kindly ask if the devs care to tell us or at least consider making an alternative way to get rid of objects through console for experimental purposes.

Specially when it comes to clear an area from palms trees and plants or when you need to get rid of your constructions, it is a real mess with a lot, but really a lot, of plants, leafs, sticks and whatnot.

My suggestion:

The same way you can press "i" to spawn objects it would be usefull to have another key bind to delete the object you have under your cursor. It could be the "k" of "kill object" or so.

Alternatively you could enable the option to show the object name as a way to toggle the deleting function on or off, enabling it to show even static/scenario objects names.

Thanks for such a beautiful game, specially the story and for all the efforts put towards this community. I really enjoy your game.

Regards!

Hmmm. Using the dev console, aye? Not much for playing the game as it was created, hunh? I just pick them up, put them in a pile, if I need any I use them and if not, they despawn after a few log ins.

I love playing the game "as it was created" too, yeah.

Why would anyone be against using the dev console anyways? No one is being forced to do it, and if you want to experiment with something different there it is to push the limits of the game.

There's nothing bad on playing out of the box specially if you feel creative and want to skip some functionalities that has no relation with what you are doing.

Also, is not like the game needs cheats at all if that's the point of your reply, since you can choose to play in sandbox mode by disabling everything. But if you'd just read the original post we could save some explanations. Good luck!

I'm just wondering why OP needs to buy game again, well its good for devs but so long as you use the same account and email address just install Steam on new system log in to Steam and done all games back and saves if you had cloud enabled.
We can only delete sets of things when in backpack. Littler on the ground just pick it all up and drop elsewhere.

I'm going to buy it to play coop with my brother lol, I was trying to avoid so many explanations but thought that mentioning that the coop mode is announced would in fact be enough to make it clear that we are going to have an individual copy with someone else instead of sharing the game, in this case with my brother, as mentioned.

Still, that's not what I'm asking, it is about the debug console use as long as there's nothing wrong with that.

Debug console is not illegal to use if you want to use it. I nolonger use it as it caused my game to glitch out occasionally. Fly through space and corrupted my save. Feel free to use it. But it doesn't offer any delete options.
For your brother afaik the game needs to be in his account name tied to him as ownership.
Just wondering for your sake as I'm not sure if he could log into into your account as well to play co op on a different PC. If I understand you :)
cheers

The only way his brother can play the game is, to have his own account. As for playing on the Op's comp, his brother can do that but, he has to own the game first and yet, he doesn't have to install it, therefore, he will be playing the game his brother has installed in his system rather than playing the game from his Steam account. With that said, he will be also using his brothers name in game unless, he changes it but, that can create confusion for both him and his brother. Also, while playing the game, the brothers account will get credit for any achievements and time in game added to his account instead of, the Op's account. It's best for his brother to have his own PC and game for them both to play in co-op. No, they both cannot play the game together, using one account from two different PC's.

I hope that's all understandable?

Thanks for your inputs guys, the thing with buying another copy of the game was to express my enthusiasm and motivation for the game, nothing else.

Then I had to clarify that I mentioned it in regards of that I'm currently sharing the game with my brother and we expect to buy it again once coop is released so we play together instead.

The point of this thread however was to suggest and ask the devs about a deleting option in the same way we are able to spawn objects through debug console since you can actually press "i" to spawn anything you want from the available items listed but way more useful would be if we could remove stuff by hitting a single key.

I came with this idea because I've been playing a lot and now I'm focusing on trying different base builds specially in the Anaconda Island and I've been clearing all the vegetation.

Though I know the debug console is not meant to play the game but is still a fun alternative for an advanced gaming experience some times.

Thanks again though.
