However I wonder where Endnight games got their ideas from, I am pretty sure that a lot of their mechanics, ui and whatever was inspired from other games
I own also The Forest and I don't really see it being ripped off by GH, in case I see too much similarity with The Long dark, thing I hope will change in the future...
maybe they asked for consent to use there idea's
Lemme splain some things to you lucy:
1. Code is plagerized by other programmers who plagerize by other programmers. Happens a heck of a lot. Trust me. Credit where credit is due as a special thanks to and someone's name or business.
2. The are code chunks, modules, programs for sale by independent developers/ 3rd parties. You can buy AI routines, you can water effects, you can buy terrain generators. Unity has an awesome selection of tutorials as well. I know I use the f'ng thing. Funny thing THE FOREST AND GREEN HELL USE UNITY! OMG!
3. Art assets. You can buy premade models of plants and animals. I own asset packages XFrog and I buy individul models from Turbosquid.
4. Inspiration isn't illegal.
5. Just because you wrote this I'm buying copies of the game for my son and a friend.
The Forest has very little basic survival, but is more focused on base building while Green Hell has no building system except for a few preset structures however the main focus is on basic survival which is much deeper and a hell of a lot more challenging than The Forest - I wouldn't say that one is better than the other because it would be like comparing apples and oranges, they are both fruits but other than that they have very little in common :)
2. if there would be legal issues, let the 2 companies sort it out, we don't care. i doubt though because buying assets from unity store does not give someone exclusive rights over them
3. i don't like the forest, and i love this game, as buggy as it (for now i hope), so if it is a ripoff, it is better than the original.
4. both are made with unity, and i bet they bought some assets that are used in both products, so what, they could be placeholders, and changed in the future, but if not, meh, they are integrated seamlessly in the environment.
i don't even know what is the purpose for a thread like this.
i get it when we talk about asset flip games. but green hell is already way beyond that.
