Goliath Bird Eaters...it feels a bit inaccurate
Ok. I have to say being someone who knows a few things about tarantulas. I got bitten for the first time today by one in the game. Here's a little education on the subject of these New World tarantulas since the game portrays them a bit inaccurately.

The venom of these guys is little more then that of a bee sting. There's more mechanical damage due to the large size of the fangs then anything else in terms of their bite. So I still see the need for addressing the wound but the concept of a fever and need for antivenom bandages doesn't speak true.

The actual danger with them is their uriticating hairs. Their primary defense is to kick hairs at their predators that causes severe skin irritation, watery eyes and irritated sinuses if it reaches those areas. It would be far more realistic if the player receives a rash that they have to deal with instead of a severely venomous bite.

Side note and interesting fact about the Goliath Bird Eater or Theraphosa blondi is it is one of the worst New World tarantulas to get haired by and is one of the reasons they can be difficult to keep in captivity for those who have them as pets. So it would be really cool to see that properly represented in the game, imo. But I like the game either way. Just sharing some insight on the subject. It'd be nice if a game accurately represented spiders/tarantulas in their game for once.

I assumed it was the uticating hairs that messed with you which is why the "bite" texture was so hard to see. I died to one on my first game so I've avoided them since then because holy hell do I find a lobster sized spider deeply unsettling.

I ended up with venom and a fever the instant I was bitten which wasn't exactly accurate at all to what would happen if you were bitten by one, not unless you happen to be allergic which isn't exactly common.
