Shelter walls offer protection?
I just spent ages making a big shelter of frames, roofs and walls as well as getting attacked by wierd native spawns all the time. My question is if the walls actually give me protection from predators and natives? Or have i wasted my time?

they do ,
you can also use the sheds as a way to climp on top of your shelter for an elevated fighting position and even though the PC doesn't have to jump to get on top natives and animals seem to not be able to follow you (though natives will still used ranged attacks)

natives also seem to not be able to go under your shelter although pumas and jaguars will run right through the same opening you pass in and out of

not sure if its been patched but for walls i like to only put in 2-3 long sticks in and leave the rest absent the wall is still functional and i like the white glow for finding my way back to camp

i respect your views on this mate, but i still think the devs have to polish these elements up and hopefully they will, game is so much fun i really hope they continue to make it better. I do want walls that keep all dangers out!

i respect you as well good sir but im not entirely following what you mean.

I thought you were posting this as a question of do walls prevent creatures from moving through them and attacking through them, in which case they do.

If you were posting it as a why am i getting attacked in my base standpoint then I would say its due to the natives behaviour in 2.1 update.

a lot of us are having issues with the natives right now and the devs are looking into it

no trying to be disrespectful at all but sincereily trying to get on the same page of what you meant. If im still missing the mark elaborate on what you would like polished up

Simply put... I would like a base that shelters me from the elements and any kind of predator shall we say. i just stopped playing right now cause i had some natives hit me fro outside the wall, but i can't tell if i was too close to the wall or not as of yet. The OP native spawning is a problem but i learnt to get around if for the time being. Otherwise, i hope the devs try to fix the fps issues and keep that content coming, great game!

There are a few areas natives will NOT attack you. The safe area se of map and the dock NW of map for one. I'm sure there is more... but crossing the map is much more tricky now. I've been attack through walls of shelters and on top of my roof. They use blowdarts and have pretty long range. Each village and areas can yield goodies that can aid you in your base camp build. a larger grill .. fire.. canteen ... Cooking pot... Machette... traps...drying racks.. smokers.. tons of stuff.. you just have to be able to survive the trip to get it and make it back home to a save point. there are a few pre esablished huts around you can save there too. ^_^

Dock NW is not safe for me. Still getting 2 natives a day spawned on me there.

Depends on difficulty, on hard they spawn near you 3-4 times per day, even in caves. Nowhere is safe.

The lagoon at the South-East is no longer safe from natives. I doubt there a singel spot on the map that can be regarded as safe. That would be inside caves if so.

I stand corrected

Really I've been at the Lagoon for a week in game now (since the new patch) and other than the one native that always spawns at the start down there haven't seen a single one. The big danger down there is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ panther that spawns constantly by the beehive.

They don't , animals like jaguars will come through the walls 100% and natives can destroy your whole camp with few bazooka spears blows.

It's strange but since my post, i've been playing on the hardest difficulty and i hardly ever get attacked by predators or tribals! I swear there were more predators in cat form at least in alpha.

Animals spawning and walking through base walls ofc is silly but i'm as the caiman lake island place and nothing can reach you on the island anyways so now it feels the game is a little easy on hardest difficulty lol!
