drying rack
after last update drying rack no longer functions, you can place meat on it but can not take it off & does not show it drying. have tried rebuilding a new one with the same result.

I've built the (wooden) dryer under a palm covered frame and the meat never dries - the progress bar/circle thing never moves even after days. In a previous save, I built it in the open and it made progress in between rains but never finished drying the meat (for obvious rain related reasons).

did you build a fire under it? Not sure if it helps but my fire does not go out in the rain and the meat actually kept drying. Maybe it was just the recent patch that fixed it.. shrugs.

I can't seem to figure out how to build a fire under the dryer..? I can build it around the dryer and the dryer/fire fit just so under the frame but the ghost is always red when I try to place the fire under the dryer directly. Have tried a few different combos of which gets built first and where but it remains a mystery to me. Shrug indeed!

You don't use a fire when drying meat. The concept of drying is that the sun does the work, which actually takes a long time.

The dryer is bugged out. It used to work before 0.2.1

looks like it does work when its not raining, meat dried. going to try under a structure
briansaxton Oct 28, 2018 @ 4:26pm
Mine is under a structure and doesn't dry during the rain. It works exactly the same as the one I have that isn't under a structure. Raining = no drying -- shelter or not.
Major Pain Oct 28, 2018 @ 7:27pm
I placed a fire under the shelter with the drying rack because it was conveniant to have both to stay dry and usable when raining. I don't believe one has to do with the other except its just good use of space.

I can tell you the fire does not go out when raining in any case :)

Me starting to think it's a balancing game mechanic.
Prior to that, if all your statements are true about this game's version, the dryer was totally OP.
More meat, no fire needed, just a longer waiting.
I had both built, the dryer and the smoker... and guess what ? the smoker was almost never a choice.

Now I guess it may make smokers more of a good alternate to dryer

i keep thinking its bcas the rain wont stop

Im sure mine only started drying after it stopped raining even though it was under a shelter. Now it work regardless to the weather.

You may be right. I think they tweeked the drying time a bit recently. I put the fire under the shelter and the dryer over the fire because it made good use of space.. and my fire wont go out.
In real life this would be risky due to fire danger but was used in the bronze age. Caves also are good places for fires. - I place mine next to water.. so i can boil water without leaving the fire. dirty water is availble at the fire.
