I think the Bed helps restore more energy in less time. Making a bed that is off the ground (log bed) will help reduce the chances of getting worms. I do not recommend the hut shelter for anything other then saving the game.
Do you not think that chopping trees, bamboo etc and trying to build shelters in a sweltering jungle wouldn't sap your energy?
Agreed that there are issues with balance within the game, but they will be corrected (hopefully) in future updates.
Can be tweaked a bit.
No need to throw it overboard.

Have seen much worse in other games.
Also this would add to the game as well bcz the ill effects in the game would be that much more devastating. So certain ill effects could effect certain food values. Perhaps an event in the story would be getting caught by natives and being fed only hallucinagens, thus destroying all food values except calories :P
While you stand still in this game stamina recovers, but your food meters still go down.
