About the southern one way slope near the waterfall/haven. (bamboo anyone?)
I'm currently putting the last touches on my base in the haven and I need bamboo but from what I gather, it's only found on the western part of the map that is a pain to access because of that one way cliff (above a river to the north west).

so, is there a way to make a sort of step or stair to jump it?

PS: a more convenient bamboo source would do too

Not much close by. Maybe you should move camp.
I got stuck as well I needed bamboo for some of the mud stuff.
The Abandoned village is not far from you there I run over there is 2 minutes from the Abandoned village.
My main base camp is there. I head North from it and follow the stone wall all the way cross 2 creeks and then I am at the top of the flat area before the log stump.

If you want to move camp
Just follow the stone wall south from your waterfall cross a couple creeks up the hill and you will see the spiritual tokens in front of the abandoned village.

For me to get bamboo to there I head south from the Village follow the stone wall there is a cutting just up a bit turn left at that and follow it through a stone opening go down a stump left follow the river to the end turn right you can see the Cartel drug camp. Just go back teh same way.

Otherwise the closest to you is a hard task to build mud steps first
Head out and straight down to first dry creek cross over head SE crossover next river keep going till you get to a stone wall with a log sticking out ontop and has red flowers. 47w 28s . Up there is a hidden stonehenge tons of bamboo. If you can get up there cut heaps of bamboo and throw it down.
If you can make a small campfire mud mixer, build a grill rack and place several mud bricks onto of each other. The river below down the log is handy to wash etc,
see this discussion where we found the hidden stonehenge. I made it up there.

The other places for bamboo is at
the tribal camp just down from the bamboo bridge
35W 22S
Fishing Dock across the river.
Also at the Cartel drugs camp 51W 27S
Anaconda Lagoon tons there.

Here I made a map to show you where the bamboo is and where the village is to your waterfall ( cricled) bamboo xxxx

noice, thanks for going above and beyond :D

I did think it was pretty stupid to havve a bamboo bridge to repair without bamboo nearby but didn't see those.

I actually only needed those to make a shower, which I ended up doing the long way, gathering bamboo logs for my future shrimp traps on the way.

I'm actually pretty happy with my camp location. not havving snakes, spiders, scorpions, natives and giant predators spawning there or being able to follow me, the abondant sources of fish, honey and sap, and of course the beautiful scenery make it a must have for me.
(plus, you know, I built a rather large hovel there, not gonna spend 15 days making mud bricks and getting parasites anytime soon)

one thing I miss to make this place perfect is a trap that'd capture/kill an iguana.

Thanks glad you liked it.
Yes i love the waterfall too. But I did get natives at the top.
And snake near the coconut tree at the top rightside.
Spider on the left side lol
Yes head down with the broken bridge at your back it's just a small way too just watch out for bees and 4 waraha natives at that camp. I managed to get it anyway.
They also have the smoker and the weapons rack
Try making a basic spear grab a long stick and craft to spear nothing else. I think it spawns the BP spike trap.
Cage trap is up at the the village I mentioned.
PS
I use the stone trap to catch that pesky goanna.
Look in your Traps BP

no, I know how to craft a spear dude XD

I'm 60 days in, I have unlocked pretty much everything and am now farming crafting skills to make the 100% metal armor/weapons

what I want is a constant, readily available source of protein/fat I don't have to work with, kinda like with the stone trap that'll regularly give you whatever roams the place.

well, the waterfall happens to havev two iguana spawns, which I could just harvest repeatedly if I had a trap that works on them.

so far I tried the kill and cage traps, neither did it.
I'll give a try to the spike trap although I gather it won't preserve the body like stone traps did since it infflicts damage instead of traping but considering dead birds ffound on the ground are always fresh meat, it might be okay

ooooooooooooooooh! the basic spear is how you unlock it!

hehe, boi is my face red.

thanks a lot buddy, I would never have found that out considering how easy it is to make a stone spear

ha ha well I am like 456 days in done it all now :)
I had 2 stone traps one near the cave just up from waterfall got him lots of times and one further out. Just note where he travels
cheers

thanks mate, I just tried the spike trap and for the record:

it's far from ideal until they reinstall regrowth.

because it takes fresh leaves it's a finite ressource that can spoil and will force you to go further and further, rendering the concept of a trap pointless.

indeed there are caiman lizards that can be caught with a stone trap, if I see an iguana I'll update this post

??? just hit a plant to break it into small leaf pile.
I have never seen it spoil if the trap has been activated just reset it.
No need to replace the small leaf pile until it traps an animal
I can confirm it even kills the capybara

Small leaf in backpack turns into dry leaf for fire if left for more than a day.
Once in trap its fine in my game.
I usually hit the Monstera when young and small as there is so many of them makes a small leaf pile.

- you ask when they spoil and you explain that they spoil into dryed leaves
- you say they don't need reloading except wwhen reloading them
- special plants might be a solution to just mowing down the forest, stays the problem of having enough nearby that you can reload a potential half dozen of traps getting filled up almost daily.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just that a stone trap is WAY simpler, with no ressource needed, much less one that is annoying to get because of wonky/placeholding regrowth.
