Starving too fast
I am playing on Normal difficulty.

I cant seem to keep my fellow with a full belly. All five hunger sectors seem to fall, a lot faster than I can find enough food to feed myself. And to do all this while trying to build too, is pretty rough.

I have died about 20 times now, and I most of those deaths are due to hunger death.

When I eat mushrooms, fruits and meat. Barely does my Feed belly rise. About 10% feed. It barely does anything. However finding a Nut, or a dead Bird, is rare. I can't see how I can keep my guy fed; when food is very sparse, and he gets hungry very quickly.

Half a day goes by and he starves... that is not even realistic. A person can go at least 3 days before 'maybe' dying. But usually longer than that.

My fellow must have a very fast metabolism or something.

Can anyone give me pointers on how to keep my guy fed half proper? I can't make it past Day 2.... without starving to death.

btw in priority you should prioritize water then carbs then fats and lastly protein protein is arguibly the easiest to handle "anything animal related" but is arguibly the least important to prioritize

Suggest you keep your thirst filled that helps, if you cant cook unsafe water to drink fast enough
drink the unsafe water from stream just make sure you have collected the orange cap mushrooms and eat a couple of them they remove parasites in your gut.
Craft a couple of bidons. Green coconut green husk removed place on craft table with 1 rope.
Carbs keep your energy up.
Carbs found in brazil nuts orange fruit green fruit bulbs bananas and coconuts.

craft a basic spear long stick my preferred is long bamboo stick shoot and kill some pigs capyburra crabs many animals you'll see. Cook them or better still dry them when you get a chance. If your in teh story mode there is quite a few places with packbacls even in just survival mode outside of story

Have you tried hunting. Larger animals give much larger meat that is more filling to both protein and fats. Also have you tried gather plants that give larger amounts of carbs. Fruits other than Bananas are very minimal in their nutrition to your guy. Eating things like frog meat, bird meat, lizard meat are all wastes of time. To me it sounds like you haven't figured out the entire game yet.

My only and final tip for you and base building is after you get the first roof over your head and bed made to sleep. Setting up camp to provide all sources of food and such should be your priority. When you are finally comfortable and sustaining yourself then move on to base building.

Parasites! That could be what troubles me so.

Do those orange mushrooms, when eaten; expel parasites?

The structures that I build, and was referring to (but barely have the time to complete before starvation are:

bed, save shelter and fire place.

usually I aim for the shelter first.... but die of starvation before, or just after it is built.

there are 3 ways off the top of my head to deal with parasites

1- orange cup mushrooms

2- blue mushrooms that glow in the dark grow underneath MASSIVE trees easy to find at night

3- plants that grow on "Large bushes" have a fruit thats green looks like a "feral pear"

Did the rate in which the stats go down change since EA? Last time I played was when the area behind the hanging bridge became available and then stopped. Started a new game a few days ago and all I do is run around searching for food like crazy.

I almost rage quit this game due to being unable to keep feed until i realised that parasites are something you need to deal with immediately!
