Killer Trap bait?

The traps work whithout bait,but you can put nuts or mushrooms in the killer trap.

is anything ever attracted to the bait? I get the impression that animals just stumble into it on their bot-pathing. Seems to catch things whether it's baited or not.

i put fruit or maggots,, it is very effective, especially the one you find near the drug lab.. it may be more about where you put it that is important, rather than the bait..

I built one in the meadow near the first village, where pigs spawn. They take the bait and spring the trap, and when I come back there are are pigs just standing by the trap. So, I use my bow. Story mode, day 28.

You can put harvested palm fronds or, banana leaves in them. Best bet to save on your own foods items.

Afaik, traps in the game just spawn in a suiting carcass (or fish) after X amount of time. But they only do so if placed where animals appropriate to the trap occur.

Also, if not retrieved from the killer trap in time, the carcasses can despawn.

In my experience, Karma is correct; you don't need to use bait in any trap for it to work. But I like to do so, anyway. ^^
