Weird sound playing across the map?
It sounds like the tribes are blowing a horn of some sort, I'm hearing it more frequently. Does it mean anything or is it just part of the game to happen every so often.

Maybe you are hearing the invisible howler monkeys? They are not physically implemented yet but you can hear their howls. It adds that mystic and jungle atmosphere

ha ha here's an example but be warned its not quite that bad in the game. We just hear some short versions
Turn your sound down

The monkey sound is curious, didn't know that was a thing. But i think i know what OP means; it's an actual soft / relaxing horn sound that's heard from time to time. It's probably just part of the background sounds repertoire with no ties to gameplay.

Yeah it honestly sounds like an instrument. Thought it would be some form of communication between the tribal men.
Capuzzi09 3 AGO 2019 a las 7:55
Maybe it's not necessarily played for communication purposes. Probably those tribes men just enjoy playing it. There is a number of examples for primitive music instruments invented and played by native tribals around the world - and it's just for the joy of playing some music. :)
It was the same with our ancestors long time ago - and a little bit later there've been crazy guys like Bach, Beethoven, AC DC etc. doing quite the same, just a little bit more developed. :D

True. I just wish they would come and attack me or do something. I'm on day 15 and nobody has come near me or spotted me with the fires.

That's true Capuzzi09, that's how humans enjoyed music before Mozart but it would be cool to have some cues about their current status and routines while they're far away.

Where are you camped?

It's an area along the Piranha infested river water. There's a boat house there with a car seat where I sleep.

You're real close to active areas they patrol/stop and chant actually. (51W 19S is your location)

There is also a village near at 47W 17S (Use your watch to find your coords)

So after you are at the fishing dock location a few days venture towards the water fall. You will run into natives after staying in one location for a while then moving through the jungle. That waterfall and off the mud road that leads from that waterfall (The one with the capys in front and the bee hive there are native spawns. If you light your camp fire at night youll eventually get attacked.

You WANT them to attack your camp? If you're at the canoe camp you're close to 2 villages, but they won't reach canoe camp very often. Just once in the 80 days I spent there, but they'll be there eventually. My first encounter was when 4 of them came and slaughtered me while I was cooking at canoe camp. Since then I've been on a mission to exterminate them, starting with the loner who lives on the other side of the river.

The odd thing is that it's always followed by what sounds like a real bird call. I wonder if future updates will modify these sounds to be somewhat more varied and random.
