Best base location ever?
OK, so i did my fair share in surviving so now. I used to live in fishing camp (+: safe, lots of food, good construction site, easy mud and water, animals for hunt, lots of bamboo, and -: far away from everything)
Then i moved to drug facility, but now natives took the place.
I tried safe oasis, it was ok
Then i loved anaconda camp, i fancy the opportunity of dying in caimann teeth there.

So which location you prefer? Or maybe there are another good base spots you recommend, now, after updates and full release? :)

The first native camp. Has free stone ring, dryer and a banana garden. Next to river and pigs appear frequently.

I dont do bases. I'm a nomad.

Anaconda for me always. I like the open nature of the airfield, but there's no mud

Have one in each and include the waterfall :)
But I have to say the abandoned village is the best for food water bananas and animals has a bed already

Anaconda camp is hands down the best, even with the new maps added in. So much carbs to be had (4 sources within feet of the default campfire). Shelters in place if you wanna be lazy. Can fish and trap right on the island. You get a croc to hunt everyday. All the wood and bamboo you could ever need, and a 20 foot anaconda to ward off danger.

I started playing again. I can`t make heads or tails of the new map. Can`t get anywhere. The cut through to drug lab and fishing dock seem to be closed off now. Pretty much have to start a base at Haven. then try to be stocked up at the crack of day. I tried all day to find another place, a skull cave pass through, something. The new map is disappointing, for me. I can`t understand it. Been trying to use the old brown and green map, but still can`t go to the little plane even.

From this I guess you play in story mode. Try the survival mode and you'll see that those passages are open as you know them from the earlier map.

Back to the question from the OP:
I always build a larger camp at the fishing docks. I love the place for the same reasons which you already mentioned.
But I also build a second camp at the abandoned village and one other on anaconda island.
I really cannot choose one of those places as my favorite, I just love all of them. :)
So I travel around from time to time and stay at one of my camps a couple of days until I feel like getting bored and then I move further to another place. I just love the surrounding, the nature and the simple surviving from one day to the next.

Oh my! Capuzzio9, thank you for that! Who`lda thunk it? It never entered my mind to play survival mode. I had stopped playing for a couple months or more. *I`m retired, disabled and play hours on end, "every day" ;) I too love all three camp/base areas you folks mentioned, for the same reasons. I just could not find a way out of haven place. As an aside, abandoned native camp, the jaguar has a way of sneaking up on me lol. Thanks again Cap. I`ll find out more as I go about survival vs story modes. Cheers friend.

I like some of the smaller places, like the cave in the north with the little pool in front of it (48W/15S) or the small pond at the end of the ravine near the bridge (~38W/22S). Both have water, wood, animals and some space to build and farm - not much, but it's sufficient.

( I guess I just prefer to live at places where I don't have to look at other people's mess... ;)

story mode: when you start at haven, go to the abandoned native camp, there you will be given the task to drink a special brew. When you drink that brew it will unlock blocked routes, so you can move on to the next location.

Survival mode: There is one place you can not visit in story mode, it totally blocked off and is only in story mode. It the place below the elevator. All other locations can be accessed as normal but routes to anaconda are different in story mode.

Thanks for that. I try google search but it doesn`t seem to have a way to date the searches. Some games 10 years old and a thousand updates ago can be top search;-) So now i can try both game plays. I did go to the abandoned village, several times, in story mode, and noticed the little brewing place there but didn`t see any prompt to brew and drink and take a little trip. I hope they plan to flesh out the new in game map. hard to see, for me, And I have yet to find the player locator mark on the map?

so if you have the map, that means you should have read the burned pages at the abandoned village. Now open your notebook and go to the second tab on the left hand side and follow the instructions.

There is no player locator on the map, use your watch to check your coordinates against the map to see where you are.

Thanks. I`ll admit I was remiss in reading that entire info booklet in the fire. I was burning daylight, getting no where, getting killed by the jaguar, and trying to pick leeches, get food, cook food, sleep, save, and many other myriad of things lol. Did I mention dying? This game is no walk in the park, excuse the pun, and does keep you on your toes. I`m old, and not prone to cursing, but I do in this game. If a game makes me mad enough to curse, it must be exciting yeah? This is a good game and i have hopes of great future improvements. Great devs listen to their player base.

Since this is a topic of interest for you, I have a YouTube channel currently devoted to building bases in unique places around the map. The video below will show you the first base I took a look at under the new update, and then later videos go into season 2. While I think, along with many others, that Anaconda Island is "the best" base because of its inclusivity of many things you need, there are other cool spots around the map that work well that some folks may have never seen or tried to build on. Check it out if you have time, we're having a lot of fun with it!

Well, it`s been days, and I still haven`t figured out how tom get to anaconda Island in story mode. I have however found a couple places to drink native LSD lol. Finally got the grappling hook at gold mine. Climbed up the lamda place and another LSD place, but no ingredients. I`m so dumb. Can`t blame being old for being dumb;) I stopped playing this game after doing everything and making everything at Anaconda Island. This new stuff, the map, confuzzes the heck outta me. I did find a big brightly colored map, for story, I think it is? But can`t get around in that either for the mountains! Jungle? Mountains? pick one dang it;-)
