boiling water requires at minimum a fire and 2 coconuts
when you get a coconut make a coconut bidon to carry water
collect water
using a 2nd coconut you get 2 empty coconut halves that can be used as bowls
place the 2 coconut bowls by a fire light the fire and then place the dirty water in the bowls and wait to boil
thats your early game water filter
there are of course other ways to get water like certain fruits give water coconut water...is water etc
There are some coconuts around but maybe head north to the village. Follow stone wall not far away
Make base there :)
I haven't wanted to spoil my recipes from online guides as much, so I haven't memorized them after glancing to see what there is on the wiki.
So far it's been really rewarding figuring things out, but my dude is dying of thirst and I'm running out of parasite killing mushrooms. Thanks for the tips, my friends!
Oh one more thing? Do resources respawn? If I eat from a banana tree, will more grow eventually? Fish in the water come back? If not, I guess I'll slowly eat my way through the jungle lol.
yes food resources do respawn, including caimans and jaguars
yes food resources do respawn, including caimans and jaguar
Is there a way to knock coconuts off trees or do you have to wait for them to fall on their own?
Thanks for the help everyone! Seems like coconut halves are a good way for clean water. Just get a bunch of them out there in a line and wait for rain or boil water if they all empty.
Then go find other filter methods later.
You can throw rocks with the "g" key.
and yes, Coconuts are essential.
In all honesty, in the story mode on normal difficulty, if you know the route, I don’t think you even need to build a base. The supplies you scavenge from locations should just about be enough.
Found out I lost all my progress because even though I built a shelter that saves the game, sleeping in it doesn't save. Must have been another interaction I didn't see. This bites, but maybe I'll get a better start now.
