What's the truth behind the lifeless dark latex nest(Spoilers)?
The end area was very stressful for me due to the constant foreshadowing, telling quite clearly that as things are both you and Puro are fated to die.

But the second dark latex nest is kind of a mystery to me.

The crystals are the final stage of the dark latex life cycle(i.e. you are surrounded by Puro's dead friends), after which they would start again as cubs or mutated cubs, but there are no cubs or anything alive in there.
It's unsettling, not only to Puro and I guess it's another thing foreshadowing his death,
but I wonder what is really going on there and if I am missing something.

Did someone actually go out of their way to kill everything in the nest?
Were they cut off from the others by the light latex or possibly an issue with the venting system(The vent near the first light latex nest, as Puro says, doesn't go anywhere) and collectively starved to death, since they had only been going off captures during the riot and the crystals would not bring new life on their own for lack of energy, only hoping that one day someone could come into contact with some of the crystals?

When you add that fact that the red crystals seem to have a unique transfur when Lin touches them it is even stranger. I think any number of things could have happened but this is basically what I think happened.

Some last ditch experimental stuff must have happened here that mixed the white and dark latex and this seemingly non-sentient zone could be the result. Considering the white latex has formed the unsettling "white forest" while the black latex otherwise seems to lack this property when a lot of it is together makes me think this strange uni-mind "forest" is a trait inherited from white latex rather than dark latex. Ignoring the normal crystal dragon transformation (which is in of itself an unexpected evolution of dark latex) the red crystals seem to transform Lin into a much more realistic looking transfur and less gooey which seems to be a trait usually with the "complete samples" as I call them. I don't think it is ever directly stated but I believe the non gooey latex creatures like the panthers (or whatever they were) are derived from white latex rather than dark. The resemblance of the crystal wolf and the white latex tail (and Shizi) is not lost on me. They both have red marks and don't really look like they are made of latex. Additionally the crystal wolf seems to have proper eyes in contrast to dark latex. Now considering the crystal dragon it is true that Lin seems to have no mask from this either but I am not sure if is the same thing. I don't really have a way of explaining why the normal green crystals work the way they do but I am sure the red ones have been affected by white latex. While the crystal wolf may be some form of mutant advancement I think the red crystals could possibly be in their own weird science fiction way: "infetile". It seems that having new dark latex pups be born from crystals is a normal phenomenon and it is never directly stated what these crystals need to thrive, if anything.

I can't confirm if any of this was DragonSnow's idea creating the zone but I imagine this idea may have at least crossed his mind at some point. Even if it didn't I think we can all agree that mixing together one scientific goop with another one of very different properties is just asking for something strange to happen.

There is still the question of Puro though ... Puro kind of seems like a mutant in his own right. The more feminine mask in its natural shape (though I imagine it wouldn't match completely if the game's artstyle were ever given more detail), excessive fur around the back of his head, a so incredibly long tail that no other basic dark wolf latex can compete with, and a natural aptitude for learning. Isn't he like 5 or something? I think he stated he was created shortly before the riots and that happened 5 years ago. I could be wrong. As much as I love the goodest furry gooey boy :PuroHappy: I have to wonder if he was completely honest about how far out he traveled through the facility before meeting Lin. Perhaps he even encountered the red crystals before. If that were to be the case then one would be reasonable to assume that perhaps contact with the red crystals when a dark latex is young may force them to evolve suddenly. I also think it is possible that if this were the case he simply doesn't remember it as he was no doubt a pup.

oNE THING,what happened to the people ofcourse they might be surviving not just like welp time to die and ofcourse it might be a virus like days gone agile nibbas and last of us some mutated monsters SO I BET IN 6.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HELLA LOT OF SURVIVORS ARE ALIVE

I mean if there were actually a sizeable amount of normal humans left I guess that would explain Dr. K's concern with Lin being a carrier of the virus rather than just ignoring Lin thinking it was hopeless. Granted I am not sure why his mind keeping transfurmation isn't an option. Maybe the process he used made him infertile and he still hasn't figured out how to prevent that when Lin came around. If the treatment did that that wouldn't exactly keep humanity going. The dialogue seems to imply he wasn't too far from letting the remaining humans free (from wherever they were) and leading them to the facility if Lin were not a factor.

Besides even if they fail the dark latex seem to have a social structure so they can probably go on as their own caveman society with the potential to learn and advance as a species. (unless Puro is indeed a mutant in his own right and that is where his ability to learn stems from) If they do eventually start to learn more like Puro and they learn a lot more about their own bodies and white latex ... they should immediately invest in a means of killing those disturbing white forests. The human scientists wanted a living latex that wasn't as smart as the dark latex? Well they got it and it is freaky.
