How to mod Changed.
Prerequisite:

1.RPG Maker VX (Not any other version)
2.Some knowledge of game cration with RPG Maker
3.Some knowledge in Ruby
4.Time


Getting project files


Step 1, Get the game on steam.

Step 2, Once downloaded, locate the downloaded files.

Step 3, Download this tool: https://arthuro555-data.s3.eu-de.cloud-object-storage.appdomain.cloud/MODD.zip

Step 4, start the tool

Step 5, click on File, open file and choose game.rgss2a

Step 6, click on Tools then on Extract all files.

Step 7, create a new RPG Maker VX project named Changed (After that close RPG Maker)

Step 8, copy everything but the savefiles and eventually the sound track if you buyed it from your game folder to the project folder. If nessesary, Override existing files

Step 9, copy all the files from the Extract folder next to the RPG Maker decryptor file and paste them into the project folder. If nessesary, Override existing files

I Now recomend you to do a copy of this project files for every other mod you want to creat.

Step 10, open the project in rpg maker vx.

Now, edit whatever you want. For example change some details in the second map as it is where you begin

!!! The Playtest button lauches the game but the game launches steam to get the account to give the archievements to and steam starts the real game so it won't work!!!


Exporting and testing the mod


First, use file and compress data on rpg maker

Then choose whatever path and check the two boxes before hitting OK. Don't use the standard path!!!

Once finished, open the exe file that was created, and press ok. IF YOU CHOOSE THE STANDARD PATH THE PROJECT FILES ARE GOING TO BE OVERRIDDEN SO CHANGE THE DESTINATIN FIRST

Then open the new folder and copy the Game.rgss2a file into the original game folder and paste it. Now, launch the game through the Game.exe file or through steam. The game should open and Have the new content you added in.


Publish your mod

Step 1: Download that uttility: https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240/

Step 2: Launch it and select create new IPS patch

Step 3: Select the original Game.rgss2a file from changed and then open. Zou may need to select All files on the lower right corner before seeing the file. If you don't have the original one anymore, copy the modded file somewhere else and go on steam, right click on Changed in your Library, then on Properties, Local Data and check game files. It will automaticly download the original file again.

Step 4: Select the modded file and then open.

Step 5: Choose output folder for your mod file

Step 6: Distribute the file. To mod the game with it, just use lips and the mod file and the original gamefile to turn it into the modded gamefile.

This method forces to posess the original game to play it and makes a smaller file.

I haven't made the decrypter so I cannot say for sure. If you don't trust this software, which is totally understandable, don't worry there are many others. Just search for "rgss2a extractor"/"rgss2a decryptor"/"RPG Maker VX extractor" on google. This one is just the easiest I found, and I figured some people here might want to mod the game without much technical knowledge.

I always recommend using VirusTotal[www.virustotal.com] if you're concerned about that.

I am attempting to export and test the mod, but when I tried it just wouldn't work. After pasting the files from the mod to the actual game, it said "A dynamic link library initialization routine failed" When I opened the game from Steam. Do you know what went wrong?

The zip file, once extracted, should contain a "RPG Maker Decrypter.exe" file.

and everytime when i playtest it take me to the non modded verison because of steam api.

I haven't really modded the game since I made that post as I was modding it to create a french patch but an official one was released while I was working on it. It's possible that the rpg maker version changed in the meantime, you can try making it work in VX Ace but I know that for me it's only the VX version that worked.
