From your description it sounds like you're playing the demo version, so a couple points
- You're not required to beat him, it is optional
- The demo version is slightly outdated balancing wise, he was balanced down to be more beginner friendly in the full game
If you're looking to try to beat him in the demo (which is very doable) - here a couple tips:
- Make sure all 6 of your monsters have skills + equipment + food
- Don't pick too many active skill, passive skills are what makes your monsters strong overall (there are skill resetters if you're looking to change your monster's skills)
- Try utilizing a couple monsters as your 'supports' by either buffing, healing, shielding or debuffing the enemy
- Make sure your support monsters act first and your damage dealers last
- Make sure your equipment distribution makes sense: Support Monsters should equip defensive/utiltiy stat equipment, Damage Dealers should equip Attack/Magic/Crit gear.
In any case: Feel free to try again obeying the above tips
You have to play with buffs,debuffs,shields/heals there is no way around it. This game also HEAVILY courages playing with Team combinations. You said you play the Wolf right ? Then a crit based team would be optimal. Try getting your hands on the Healing cat its a crit healer and also increases crit for your team. A Yeti would also make an exellent Tank.
