By now we have key bindings in the game and we also plan to have full keyboard support for the naming menu. Keep in mind that the game is still in development and that I develop it mostly alone - so there is only so much time but so many features I want to get in ;)
The main way the game is supposed to be played is with a controller, thats why the naming menu works this way.
While WASD movement is more popular for the majority of PC games, Arrow Keys are quite popular in certain genres, one being Metroidvanias. Hollow Knight and Axiom Verge do it, just to name two very known Steam games.
Thanks for the response!
Glad to hear you are putting in key bindings as most players I know would user their left hand for movement in platformers.
In all likelihood, I'd play your game with a controller. Did find it odd that even the naming section couldn't be completed with a keyboard either.
When you have the time, I'd recommend updating the demo with your more keyboard friendlly interface as to not give any other PC master race hard cores the wrong idea...
One thing I've found that was better than all other key maps that I'd love for you to check out is the Final Fantasy XII remaster. The keymapping is active overlay, so when you open the key map menu, you can hit keys and see the corresponding key light up on the key map. It's not something many games do, but it's very welcome to see in a game. Just food for thought.
