Besides, if you 'feel embarrassed' about playing this, you have entirely different issues that you need to work through, and those aren't the game's fault.
I agree it would be an interesting idea to see a monster collecting game with rather monstrous creatures. I think Siralim maybe goes into that direction: https://store.steampowered.com/app/841770/Siralim_3/
It's not like they remade your favourite grown up game into a kindergarten variant one, they just decided on the game they wanted to make and here it is.
Seems like you are venting about something that is a personal problem. I couldn't really take the setting serious, but the gameplay is awesome, so I didn't really care about the first and now I love it.
If you feel embarressed playing a game, then thats not a fault of the developer but rather yourself.
I know many fully grown adults, both male and female who do not suffer from this issue...
I think you got some deep rooted personal issues there buddy. o,,o (For the record i love SMT as well)
As for monster designs, this game having monsterous creatures... it'd be rather out of place given the artstyle of the game. But not all of them are "cutesy" are you seem to be implying. A flying evil eyeball i'd hardly call "cute" and it's one of my favorite monsters(based purely on how it functions. Mad Eye...so good XD)
This is a fun game with a simple, albeit great aesthetic to it. Before you pass judgement, please actually try a game. o/ "Don't judge a book by it's cover" is rather apt.
Hope OP finds the self esteem to not be ashamed of who they are.
Also you sound pathetic and I am not entirely confident that this isn't just bait.
Also also not playing a "childish" game because you are a "big mature adult that is too old for such childish things" is the most utterly childish and immature thing I could possibly think of.
Look at this guy's comment history LOL! To say OP is deeply unsettled with themself and life is an understatement.
1st - I wasn't “attacking” this game.
Actually wasn't attacking anything AFAIK. Nor was I trying to start an argument.
I was asking a question.
My respect to Sersch for taking the question seriously.
Still don't see why it's a “natural fit” though, but looking at replies I can see how it would be the style most of the target audience would expect.
2nd – A child is not something that I am. Nor am I someone with child-like tastes.
There's nothing for me to “accept” or reject here.
The “embraced” part was a figure of speech, apparently not the most successful one.
What I meant to say is I don't know a single game of this type that has a more mature style.
It's not that I literally can't play any due to embarrassment, it's that I can't stomach their style.
Sorry if that offended any of you.
Though they were mostly released for consoles and not PC.
"When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
I find that people who throw around the term "childish" and talk about how much of an "adult" they are usually still have quite a bit of maturing to do themselves...
SMT, of course, has demons like Mara.
