Turn-Based combat is the most fitting for a "One Piece" game.
Before everyone starts to raise their pitchforks, hear me out.
First, this is somewhat of a "joke" and I prefer having an action based combat.

But think about it:
When they fight in "One Piece", they do one attack... than they talk for a bit, than the enemy gets their turn.
Or, they do one attack, and the enemy is done.

While playing this game, I took a break to watch a OP movie.
And the combat is basically the same speed as in this game.

Some people see the "Pirate Warriors" games as the standard or so... and while fun (I love my musou games), they are just extremely exaggerated when it comes to the source material.
I played the "Attack on Titan" game before watching the anime and I mowed down titan after titan.
In the anime, the main protagonist was happy, that he finally killed a titan... in the second season.

So yeah, just wanted to get that out.
No hate or "OMG you fanboy!" or so, cause again... I also would prefer something more action oriented.
But fighting in animes mostly suck (sadly), only the last "Broly" movie was decent when it comes to holding the action for longer than 30 seconds.

EDIT: And dear god, please don't recommend animes worth watching because of supposedly good combat.
I'm done watching this stuff and "One Piece" is basically just nostalgia for me.

You're not wrong, and that's why I've said I hope they try again and use this to build off of, whether it be One Piece again or some other property.

Sure, Pirate Warriors can scratch the itch of being a One Piece world badass, mowing down thousands, but this did a good job of grabbing some of the other facets you don't really see in the landscape of 'anime game=arena fighter'. I've got rose tinted glasses as hell because favorite genre and one of my favorite series, but I won't pretend it's perfect. The railroading can be annoying, the difficulty's too low...but if it means seeing this experiment tried for a few other series, I'm down.
