Turn based was never an issue here. So welp i'll list some problems I had in these 2 impressively bad hours so far:
-Most of the time you're taking 3 steps and there's a garbo cutscene. Why bother giving me control if you're taking it away so soon lol
-When the blue haired dude asked me to go to the cave i couldn't walk to an item to the left
or check out the area because "HEY THE CAVE IS THIS WAY".
-When there's a level up you have to press A 7 times because there's gonna be a useless level up screen for each one of them and wow they sure are important.
-The new world boring clothes I can't stand seeing anymore. Bruh it's been what, over 10 years we've started this new world crap? Do something like what Unlimited Cruise did where every party member had their clothes inspired on an animal or something. Damn I wish they did a third of that game.
But yeah, basically the game is a walk forward and press A in front of walls and during battles.
Yeah I sadly have to agree. At this point they're just throwing anything out because they know the diehard fans will just buy any crap and be happy with it.
I only recall getting hit with a cutscene a few steps after leaving one once and yeah, that one was really annoying.
Not being able to explore when being directed gets annoying every so often, but you'll eventually be able to go back. It does this quite a bit. You (eventually) get access to a fast travel system or two, so that ends up helping. You'll have to backtrack a bit anyway, because there's areas you can't access without crew you won't have yet.
No idea about the level up bit, I just spam after battle anyway. When you get your skills back and it lists them one at a time when the whole crew is getting 3-4, I can see that getting annoying, but at least it's informative.
Lastly, I do agree about the outfits. I kinda expected to unlock outfits per memory, but nope. At least nothing when I finished Alabasta. There might be some in those locked red chests or something. I also don't know what some of the rewards are, could be in there.
I will say, though, that the humor and writing is on point. When I was going through the last bit right of the Alabasta ruins and you see the small scene with a giant (obviously boss) monster and Luffy immediately blurts out 'let's go fight it', I got a chuckle.
"I guess everything one piece has post time-skip will forever suck, even the games" why are you still playing/watching One piece if you hate everything post time skip? the time skip happened over 500 episodes ago and 11 and a half years ago.
Yeah the writing and humor was very one piece-like from what I remember of the anime. Game had some points I was enjoying but there were too many points one after another. Thanks though, I'll be playing this later
If I had 2 complaints, it would be the game is too easy for the first 5-7 hours and that the tutorial lasts for too long.
