In a nutshell usually has to do with it being made in Japan I believe. I think most of the money spent on Development and promotions is spent on it in Japan. Anime is also more popular and a part of Japanese culture. So it's more or less a gamble here for them.
I guess when all said and done the only way they can profit or break even is selling it at a high price here. There is so many Anime games we will never see. Some even have more content in the Japanese versions. There is only one Anime worth the investment that I know of. Which is DBZ, being the only Anime without question having better English voice acting. That's why nearly ever DBZ game always has English dubs.

This is the normal price for AAA JRPG's. And this is based on one of the biggest franchises. Just get the game that appeals to you the most. Are you a bigger fan of One Piece or Harry Potter? What combat style do you like better? The games are different enough to make the choice easy.

Trust an old fart making something that's happening now all about what happened 'back in my time'.

Trust an entitled zoomer to complain about historically low prices for videogames.

Guess I need to start wearing my pants up to my armpits and start yelling at kids to stay off my lawn!

Expensive? It's standard price for a game. 60 bucks is cheap even, some games started going with 70 now (which will happen for all big games in the next 2-3 years)
Considering this game doesn't have English voice acting, Bandai Namco asking for $59.99 when their localization team did an incomplete job is absolutely outrageous. Insofar as I'm concerned, it's not worth half that price, especially for a game that is both story driven and likely to have several lengthy cut scenes. They pretty much lost a sale not having English voice acting as this game will never get my money.

Lmao buddy, not every game that releases gets a English voice cast. You Americans might be surprised by this fact but not everyone knows English. The primary audience of one piece watches subs. If you feel that way, that's like saying a game doesn't deserve to be $60 because there's no Japanese voice overs, French voice overs and more. Get over yourself

To be fair, (I did pick it up for 15% off though) there are (minor) things that are missing subs, like when you finally Party and they start talking, as well as Luffy's 'Alright Let's Go' the next morning are missing any subs to them.

That is true, I would have liked for those things to subbed so I agree with you there that they definitely should have subbed those minor details but saying the game doesn't deserve a price tag of $60 because Americans didn't get a dub version is insane. Look at Persona Royal. We didn't get the game till like a year or two after Japan so they can dub and translate it. Americans need to realize it's Japan's product. We come second to them, always will and rightfully so. We don't look at American products and complain we don't cater to other cultures.
It's the normal price for a brand new game. Actually lower since Sony wants to make it $70

Find cheaper hobby. Gaming is only gonna get more expensive as time goes on. At least with PC, you can get day one (or even pre order) discounts from the various digital storefront.

get both. and forspoken aswell. and ur money up.
Hogwarts Legacy is going to be a very similar price and if money is a concern for either one the obvious solution is to wait for a sale.

I am of the opinion that if you're going to market a game as a big budget title (which is what a $59.99 price tag indicates) then it should include full English voice acting. This rule applies for games being localized and sold in Japan for that premium price. If you're going to publish a God of War, or Hogwarts Legacy or Star Wars: Jedi Survivor over to Japan, and charge a premium price for it, you damned well should higher Japanese speaking voice actors and actress for the Japanese market.

I'm not going to waste my money on a story heavy game that doesn't have English voice acting. I don't remotely enjoy reading subtitles when playing a game and find it exceedingly unpleasant hearing people speak a language I don't understand. If I can't have a game in my language, then it doesn't get my money.

Now, this does not mean that I think the original Japanese voice acting should be excluded for those who prefer it. It does no harm to have dual language in a game. I, for one would prefer for these companies to stagger their releases if they lack the resources to fully localize a game complete with English voice acting in simultaneity. Better to be complete and late than simultaneous and incomplete. Sadly, you wouldn't understand this point considering your head is so deeply lodged within your netheregions.
