the door doesn't open at the pressure switch ?

At the place where there is a switch and two pressure plates on both side of a gate and 2 fire spitting dragons. First I carried 2 blocks to put on the left side pressure block then I pulled the switch and the dragon on the left was spitting fire. But the door did not open ? What do I do ?
