Everyone knows swords are good, in a game where all the rest of the weapons are guns, getting in range to hit with the sword is easy, especially if in the process you end up dealing more damage than the health you lose. And let's not forget that nearly every player don't use class abilities if surprised, which makes no difference to hit with the sword.
Noone hates getting them on legendary chest because it's totally worth it, and you get serious advantage while doing it, and noone hates forging them, using the chicken and 120 shards, spending of the 60 seconds and the slot in the forge
So, I ask again, why hate on the sword?
Got my point? Stop bullshitting and manipulating, bring real arguments.
Sword is inferior because its a close-range weapon in a game where you have a lot of options to not only break distance, but to abuse landscape. In building you are better off using shotgun, if enemy got something except grey crossbow, venom pistol or default dagger. Mage with sword and explosive cask or warrior with charge and net could possibly benefit from swords, however, you rarely find yourself in a situation where you may prefer sword to gun.
>Squads
While I find swords rather nice, but lacking utility, in squads you cant use swords since amount of control is big, and if you swing a sword, you arent that mobile and easy target.
How do we make sword better? If guns are magical\semimagical, and armor provides both physical and magical protection, we can make a point to make swords ignore huge chank of armor since "its easier to enchant one sword effectively than pack of ammo". That way you could slice up your opponent in late game when distances are extremely short, and you will have incentive to keep sword around.
I hope you will add something to my semi-argument\semi-suggestion.
Manipulating? Wtf, I gave the arguments and you can read more threads on how people don't like the sword, or even if they like it (which I actually do) it isn't worth getting it compared to another weapon. I gave my arguments, it is true that is not easy to just get in range to hit it, it is true that you might end up dead if you try to use it, because you know, every other weapon has more range than the sword, and unless you are an assassin, everyone will have the same movement speed than you.
Swords are excellent early game weapon. High dpm, combined with really long range for a melee weapon combined with a surprise on enemy makes a deadly combo. Honestly if I had to choose between using a venom, a revolver or a sword, it's sword everytime
Hahahahaha. Oh wait. You're serious? Let me laugh even harder, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I love reading these posts by cannon fodder players, really lets me walk in the shoes of the players that can only get into top 30 if they get an epic from their first chest and farm a few unarmed players.
No one will be able to because swords are worse in every way.
They do NOT have the highest DPS of regular weapons, nevermind the class weapons.
Swords do LESS dps (at 556) than the crossbow (564) and venom (600), and the same as the revolver (556), but WITHOUT the ability to headshot for double damage. If you're looking for pure burst damage on a normal weapon, then the shotgun is better, as it hits instantly, and doesn't having a long animation that slows you down/prevents sprinting. In melee, Warrior axe and engie launcher both accomplish what a sword does, while doing more damage (fire), having more utility (frost), being easier to land, and snaring your movement for less time. In actual melee, ranged weapons outdamage the sword.
The sword literally has no niche or purpose as it is.
Stop fanboy-defending something just because it's in a game you like.
The sword is objectively bad. It's near impossible to stay in range to hit anyone because every class a mobility option. It doesn't do enough damage to kill someone before they can mobility away. The only time you will ever get a sword kill is on a moron or if you get incredibly lucky.
It's worth remembering that when you defend ♥♥♥♥ like this the game you clearly love GETS WORSE. If you adamantly defend broken, imbalanced trash then you're actively making the game worse. We should be critical of things even if we like the game, thats how it gets better which is better for everyone.
What's the point? To be better up close than the shotgun. The shotgun is hands down the worst weapon in Realm Royale. Sword vs Shotgun: Sword wins everytime. Especially if someone is camping a corner in a house. So stupid
The only game I am aware of that made swords viable in shooters was Halo, which also had a shotgun too. Sword was very risk reward. Had a lunge, is a 1 hit kill, but if you missed it was hard to recover.
I don't think it should 1 shot. But I do think it needs a lunge or a forward lunging attack to give it range. I'd love for this to be a viable means of play.
